Presgrave Street Hawker Center @ George Town, Penang
It has been a week since my last post, anyone miss me? (〃ω〃)
Actually, I planned to update my blog on last Monday but at the end I did nothing at home except Netflix & Youtube binge-watching and snacking. I also got my first dose of AZ vaccine two days ago and had the side effects such injection site pain, fatigue, muscles pain and headache. But I’m all well now and back to work today! So guys, please register for vaccination and do our part to achieve herd immunity as soon as possible!
Let me continue to tempt you with some scrumptious food I had on my last Penang trip! (`∀´)Ψ
We were brought to Presgrave Street Hawker Center before we continued our second round of food hunting at Goodall Cafe.
Known as “Sar Tiao Lor” 三条路” (means ‘3rd street’) by the local, Presgrave Street Hawker Center housed several food stalls under one roof just like any other food courts in the town. You can find western food, Char Koay Teow, chicken rice, curry mee, prawn mee and Dai Chow here. Both indoor and outdoor seats are available.
Braised Yee Fu Mee
Prepared in Cantonese style in delicious thick eggy gravy, the Yee Fu Mee might looks like the Yee Mee that we familiar with, but the texture is a little bit more chewy due to its high egg content.
Braised Hor Fun in Cantonese style from the same stall as above.
We also ordered Char Koay Teow which was good to satisfy our craving.
Still remember the 888 Hokkien Mee that I mentioned in THIS POST? Hubby gleamed with joy when he knew that he would have his favourite prawn mee again. Please be reminded that the 888 Hokkien Mee & Loh Mee stall is placed in the shop beside the above mentioned Presgrave Street Hawker Center. Seating are available in this shop as well but one can also order from this stall, bring your food and enjoy it at Presgrave Street Hawker Center, but remember to bring back the bowls to them after your meal.
Hubby’s perfect bowl of Hokkien Mee aka Prawn Mee in Klang Valley with add on roasted pork. There is a list of add on ingredients such as Siew Yoke (roasted pork), pork intestine, and pork ribs if you want a more luxurious version of Hokkien Mee. The flavours of the broth was as pronounced as it should be. Fried pork lard bits were added too to amp up the flavour.
Presgrave Street Hawker Center
67, Lebuh Presgrave, 10300 George Town, Penang.
Operating hours: 4.30pm onwards till late in the night
When I can have a more luxurious bowl of prawn mee, I usually add on intestines or pork ribs instead of siew yuk….that I want it to stay crispy in siew yuk fan….kekeke! 😉 Aiyak, that serving of CKT looks like it can be finished in three mouthfuls! >_<
Kris, Siew Yoke always hubby’s first choice whenever he see it in menu in any restaurant. >_< Small portion is good so that I can try more food on next round, or even next next round, LOL
The first time when I was introduced to the Hokkien
Mee about 10 years ago, I gave thumbs up.
It became very popular over time. The problem is quality dropped when business is overwhelming. I hardly patronize this Hokkien Mee now. There are many good Hokkien Mee stalls in Penang
King Kam, I still rather enjoyed the Hokkien Mee here. 🙂
You’re definitely right, there are many hidden gems in Penang which serve good Hokkien Mee.
The Braised Yee Fu Mee looks really thick and rich and of course full of ingredients. Would love to try this. 😀
Tekkaus, hopefully we all can travel again really soon~~
OMG! I wanna cry seeing all my delicious hometown food. You are so cruel la, knowing cannot go interstate travel. I am salivating at the Braised Hor Fun in Cantonese style, Char Koay Teow and Hokkien Mee!!!!!!!! Aaarrrrrrrrrrr!!
Next week will be my first jab at KLCC. Suddenly I am so scared after the long wait. Your side effects make me more takut now. Tolong!
TM, virtual feast for your eyes, haha!
Thumbs up for registered yourself for the vaccination (AZ?) and it’s nothing to scare about, if compared to horror stories and you’ve shared in your blog. Hope you have a fast and smooth vaccination process!
