Yen Can Cook: Steamed Arrowhead with Waxed Sausage
Chinese New Year is just around the corner, I believe everyone is busy with preparations such as shopping, spring cleaning and baking. I baked quite a lot of CNY snacks last year but I’ve decided to give myself a break this year instead. (What I’ve made last year:- Fried Arrowhead Chips, Almond Flakes Crisp, Caramel Almond Flakes Cookies, German Cookies & Homemade Bak Kwa (θεΉ²)
I’ve mentioned about this Steamed Arrowhead with Waxed Sausage when I blogged about the Fried Arrowhead Chips last year. It’s a very easy dish to prepare, you need just to get 2 main ingredients, the arrowhead and waxed sausage (lap cheong) which are easily can get during this time of the year.
Ingredients

5-6 arrowheads, peel the skin & slice into thin pieces

2 waxed sausage, soak in hot water for 5mins, remove the outer skin, slice into thin pieces
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 1: Arrange arrowhead slices on a plate then topped with waxes sausage slices.
Step 2: Steam for 10 – 15 minutes on high heat.
Step 3: Remove from steamer and drizzle the soy sauce and sesame oil concoction on top. Serve.
Thanks for your invitation Jeff, I’ll let you know once I’ve arrange my schedule.
This is a very easy dish to pull off indeed. Is there a particular reason for the waxed sausages to be soaked in hot water first before steaming?
Soak the sausage before steaming is for easier skin peeling and remove excess oil.
