Shopping in Bangkok 2015!
The mission of my previous Bangkok trip –> Shopping! This much explained why Amari Watergate Bangkok was one of our accommodation which strategically located right opposite the Platinum Fashion Mall.
Platinum Fashion Mall

Specializes in fashion clothes and accessories retail and wholesale, Platinum Fashion Mall has 6 floors where most of the floors are dedicated to women’s clothing, jewelry, shoes and bags. But there are floors with shops selling stuff for men, children as well as souvenirs and gifts. There is a food court in Platinum Fashion Mall too, I had my first meal there before starting my crazy shopping there.

A shop full of “golden” accessories and each of them priced at 100Baht only.
Kind reminder when shopping here:-
1)Platinum Fashion Mall caters especially to wholesale shoppers, so most shops would require you to purchase a minimum of two pieces in order to get the “wholesale” price.
2) No try policy on the clothing.
3) Cash payment ONLY.
4) With more than 2,000 shops, so it’s best to get it straightaway if you find something that you like or else you will never be able to find it again.

How to get there?
BTS Siam, BTS Chitlom or BTS Ratchatewi – 10-15 minute walk to the mall.
Pratunam morning market

Open as early as 4,5am and some starts closing at 10, but there is no exact operation hour so I suggest that you visit Pratunam morning market as early as possible. Frankly, i have no idea where the entrance is; there isn’t any official signboard. I walked down from my hotel and just follow the crowd. There are countless of narrow alleys and lanes leading to both indoor and outdoor market which is quite confusing. Same as the Platinum Fashion Mall, get it straightaway if you find something that you like.

My 2 hours shopping haul, not bad eh ^__^

Chatuchak Weekend Market

Chatuchak Weekend Market always the most mentioned tourist spot when talk about Bangkok trip. The 35-acre area of Chatuchak is home to more than 15,000 market stalls which are separated into 27 sections. There are wide range of products on sale here, includes clothing, jewelry, plants, antiques, pets, food and drinks, fresh and dry food, ceramics, furniture and home decoration and book.

One of the rock bottom bargain in the Chatuchak Weekend Market, 150Baht for a pair of shoes! Who can resist this? Certainly not me I tell ya, I got 2 pairs of heels from this stall ^__*

The coconut ice cream definitely is a must try sweet treat when you are here! Sam got her dose too but unfortunately her crazy shopper mommy didn’t get any because she’s too busy with her retail therapy. (We walked separately, Sam follow hubby and I’m the lone ranger)
Kind reminder when shopping here:-
- Wear light and comfortable clothing, e.g. shorts and a t-shirt.
- Protect yourself against the sun, by wearing sunglasses, a hat and use sunscreen.
- Always have bottled drinking water handy.
- Bring enough cash. Most vendors do not accept credit cards.
- Beware of pickpockets and watch your belongings.
- Plan to go in the morning, as it can get very hot and crowded in the afternoon.

Union Mall

Union Mall has 8 floors with a total of 1,600,000 sq ft of space. It is popular with local teenagers and young adults who are looking for fashionable yet cheap buys. Although it is not as well known as The Platinum Fashion Mall but it’s slowly gaining popularity.
There is a good mix of shops selling clothes for guys and girls, skin cares and cosmetics products which I can’t find at Platinum Fashion Mall. Shoppers expect to be spoiled by the abundance of choices here. Prices are almost the same as Platinum Fashion mall or slightly expensive. Shopping at Union Mall is much easier as it’s more spacious, with bigger walkways. There are also myriad of cafes and eateries which is good hangout place for those husbands and boy friends while waiting for their wives or girl friends.

Also don’t forget to check out the beauty zone in Union Mall. Beauty services such as manicure, pedicure, facial and eyelashes extension are available.

I got my gel manicure at 350Baht here while resting my weary legs after long hours of shopping at Chatuchak Weekend Market and Union Mall.

You are really “geng” leh. Went with one bag and back with three bags.
