After six months of silence, I’m finally back!
Life happened. Work got busy, food was still being eaten (obviously). But somehow, sitting down to write never quite made it to the top of the to-do list.
So here I am, attempting a comeback.
That said, let’s be realistic — this blog will continue to operate on a highly sophisticated publishing schedule known as “whenever I’m in the mood.” 🤣

Yat Pan Dim Sum at Kepong – my first visit after hearing quite a number of good reviews about this place.
Apart from the typical Chinese Dim Sum setting, the interior of the restaurant felt more modern and café-like, with cozy banquette booths that looked very much inherited from the previous Hong Kong Cha Chaan Teng tenant. Bright, comfortable, air-conditioned — definitely a younger and more casual vibe.
The menu itself was massive, filled with a collection of tempting illustrations.

Siew Mai (RM8.50) & Har Kaw (RM8.50)
Both were decent enough, though not particularly memorable.
Char Siew Bao (RM4.60/pcs)
The signature BBQ pork bun truly stole the show. The Char Siew filling was smoky-savoury and sweet, it absolutely packed with flavour, with enough sauce inside to keep every bite moist without turning soggy. One of the best Char Siew filling I’ve eaten, I can say.
Special Baked Bun with BBQ Pork (RM5.50)
With same excellent filling, but wrapped in a Polo bun with crumbly crust that added another layer of richness and texture. Definitely the standout item of the meal.
Fried Bean Curd Roll (RM9.00)
They were was crispy on the outside, however felt slightly lacking in prawn filling.
Dinosaur Roll (RM9.00)
This was an unexpected surprise. The braised jicama filling that instantly reminded me of Popiah filling — sweet, savoury & mild peppery, wrapped together with crunchy You Tiao & silky Chee Cheong Fun skin.

Glossy Golden Buns (RM6.50)
Fried Mantao with condensed milk dipping.
Jasmine Tea (RM8.90/pot)
Last but no last, the free ice cream at the end definitely earned brownie points, though for me Dim Sum + Ice Cream is quite an odd combo.
Verdict: Hits and misses, Yat Pan Dim SUm may not take the crown for the best Dim Sum in my book but I’ll keep this place into my list.
