My Footsteps at Taiping~
Although we only spent 1 day at Taiping but as a glutton I didn’t miss the chance to try out some of the Taiping food recommended by my Taiping Lang friend Mr. Ooi & the almighty Perak Food Dictionary ~ Motormouth 🙂
Please pardon me as some of the restaurant reviews might be not completed with detailed photo and address.
Our first stop at Taiping. Bismallah Cendol, one of the popular cendol at Taiping. Located nearby Taiping Hospital, on Jalan Barrack.
A cooling treat for the scorching afternoon.
Business was brisk.
Pasembor also available here.
Verdict: Cendol was decent with super huge portion.
Another contender to the throne? Ansari’s Famous Cendol @ Jalan Chung Thye Phin, Taiping, Perak.
Churning out bowls after bowls of cendol to the locals, as well as tourists since 1940.
Almost over-flowing 😛
We had soya bean milk drinks & popiah (with lard inside) here.
Restoran Air Kacang Taiping 2, Jalan Panggong Wayang,34000 Taiping, Perak, Malaysia. Dinner was settled here @ Restaurant Sin Aik No. 17, 18, 19, Jalan Kampung Jambu 2,
34000 Kampung Jambu,
Taiping, Perak. Tel: +605-8068149, +6019-5778149 Business Hour: Monday to Sunday 11.00am – 10.30pm
Master Q (Lao Fu Zi) welcoming us lol
Typical Chinese restaurant setting ~ Red table cloths & plastic chairs.
Braised Pork Belly aka Dong Poh Yuk 东坡肉
Luscious pork belly with exquisite layers of fat & lean meat doused in sweet sticky gravy.
Sesame ChickenServed with citrus-ty sauce, the chicken was slightly over-fried rendering the tough and dry texture of the meat >///<
Blanched Lettuce
Total: RM 34.00 included 2 rice & Chinese tea pot.
Larut Matang Food Court
Food court with both Halal & Non-Halal food.
Stall No. 78, highly recommended by Mr. Ooi.
Taiping Style Fish Ball Char Koay Teow
Wetter than the Northern (Penang) version with fish balls & char siew. No offense but not my cup of tea 😛
Take away for Mr. Ooi, 10 pkts of them!
Trip to Taiping will never complete without a visit to the infamous Taiping Lake Garden.
The street is shaded by rows Angsana Trees.
We enjoyed the serenity & tranquility here.
This is my last post for my Taiping trip, for previous posts please refer to:-
