Ssik Kek Korean BBQ Buffet @ Laman Rimbunan, Kepong
Ssik Kek Korean BBQ Buffet has been around for years and I only have chance to check it out recently. Being pioneer of Korean BBQ buffet, the affordable price for EAT-ALL-YOU-CAN assorted of meats, banchan, variety of Korean dishes and beverages certainly the main attractive point.
Price
Lunch: RM19.90 (Adult), RM14.90 (Child 4-11 years old)
Dinner: RM39.90 (Adult), RM24.90 (Child 4-11 years old)
The restaurant has a rather simple setting, rows of tables and chairs arranged neatly within the shop. Patrons can help yourselves to get the meat and dishes at the buffet counters. Meanwhile, the waiter will set the portable stove and grilling pan on your table. Please be warned that the ventilation is quite poor here, one may walk out of the restaurant smelled like BBQ meat after the meal >_<
The selection of meats was pretty satisfying, ranging from pork, beef, chicken, squid and sausages. Available in both original flavor and marinated version.
The quintessential element of Korean food, kimchi was quite limited in choices though.
There are vegetables to pair with the grilled meats, dishes to fill your tummy while waiting for the meat grilling as well as ice cream available in the buffet spread.
You grill your meats and the staff will assist you occasionally or when they notice you’re hopeless at grilling… They were attentive and will change the grilling pan when there’s burnt layer.
Meat and more meat please~~~
Dipping sauces to go with the grilled meats.
Verdict: We were happy with the choices of meats but not really cared about other food though as they were quite mediocre. It is indeed a meat lover heaven and the carnivore in us was truly satiated after the meal. However, I wish the charge for child can be a little more cheaper as Sam can’t really eat a lot. Perhaps 3-4 pieces of meat and few scoops of ice cream can already filled her up >_<

The front and ambiance looks very typical Seoul restaurants! I would love to try this place since it is a buffet. I am wondering what difference will the food spread be for lunch and dinner crowds.
In case you are not aware, when our hair and clothes smelled after dining at such places, I would use a powerful hair dryer to blow our hair and clothes. The smell would almost disappear! I learnt this trick from a Japanese restaurant in Singapore where they had a small booth with hot air blowing for guests to smell good after meals.
Thanks TM, that’s a really good tip indeed. But….when we are outside, how to find hair dyer ler? o.O”
Yeah, I noticed the restaurant doesn’t have suction or exhaust fans…I like to eat BBQ meats but I don’t like smelling of BBQ when I leave…..haha! 😀 I like those built-in charcoal grills the best.
Although the ventilation was poor here but this definitely not the worst I’ve encountered. I’ve visit a Korean restaurant at Sri Hartamas which literally make you feel like you are in the “heaven”, so smoky and blur… >_< I think I've blogged about it, go search for it if u interested LOL
I remember this place! Very reasonable price for customers who can eat a lot of meat, especially those who enjoy Korean BBQ 😉
Yes, just like what I’ve mentioned, meat lover heaven!
