Prawn Dynasty @ Taman Shamelin Perkasa, Cheras
No prize for guessing what’s Prawn Dynasty signature items are! \(^ω^\)
As its name implies and the two big prawns logo on their signage, Prawn Dynasty offers an extensive list of delectable prawn dishes to please all the prawn lovers out there! Located in the commercial area at Taman Shamelin Perkasa, Cheras, Prawn Dynasty occupies a big premises with parking conveniently provided at the entrance.
The fuss-free dining area is airy and brightly lit with a private room which can accommodate 3-4 tables.
Although prawn takes centre stage at Prawn Dynasty, but like most of the restaurants nowadays, there are also nice range of fish, poultry, pork and vegetables dishes available here.
They are currently having this promotion for all the prawn dishes (大头虾 Big Head Prawns) for RM39.90/portion and I personally think that it is a rock bottom deal that should’t be missed!
Kam Heong Butter Milk Prawn
Served in claypot, the big prawns were submerged in a aromatic creamy Kam Heong butter milk gravy. The prawns were undeniable fresh with bouncy flesh and natural sweetness of the crustacean. The thick gravy with robust taste of shallot, curry powder, curry leaves, garlic and others ingredients was savoury enough to go with multiple bowls of rice.
Prawn with Salted Egg Sauce
Call me bias, I love everything with salted egg yolk and I enjoyed immensely this which came with extra rich and luscious salted egg yolk flavour. The powerful aroma and saltiness of the sauce beautifully complemented the prawns and the moreish flavours had me sighing at pleasure with every bite. Highly recommend!
Black Pepper Prawns
Our next prawn dish had a bold and punchy flavour with lots of peppery heat. The halved prawns were generously coated with the delicious sauce and the cleverly use of spices kept the flavours varied and multi -dimension.
Other dishes on the list are Milky Prawn, Deep Fried, Braised Prawns with Special Fish Soup, Cantonese style Garlic Chili Prawns, Sizzling Prawns, Baked Prawns with Cheese, Salt and Pepper Prawns, and many more.
Ginger and Spring Onion Steamed Orange Roughy Fish (RM8.80/100g)
Imported from New Zealand, Orange Roughy Fish is a kind of deep-sea fish that lives 180 to 1800 metre depth of sea. The fish is a bright, brick-red color and is notable for its extraordinary lifespan, living for up to 149 year. The fish is low in fat and cholesterol and high in protein.
Simply steamed with soy sauce and Shaoxing Wine to brought out the natural sweetness of the fish. The flesh of the fish was very soft and delicate. The typical sidekicks of ginger, spring onions and fried minced garlic are always the perfect accompaniments for fresh fish cooked the classic way.
Claypot Excited Clams (Small- RM20.00)
With such an “interesting” name, all of us were curious to know what’s the excitement that the dish can give us. The yellowish broth had a fragrant buttery aroma and laced with tantalizing whiff of Shaoxing Wine. The bird eye chili provide a pleasant spiciness to the broth. The clams were cooked just right, plump and tender and we were surprised to see thinly sliced pork belly were added to the dish as well.
3 Cup Chicken (Small – RM20.00)
Claypot Salted Fish Pork Belly (Small – RM25.00)
Both were bud-tickling dish with powerful evocative flavours, went really well with rice.
Saliva Chicken (Small – RM40.00)
This Saliva Chicken may sound quite weird or uncomfortable but it’s looked different with the famous Sichuan dish that I know. The Sichuan Saliva Chicken (or better known as Mouthwatering Chicken) is smothered in a spicy and numbing red-oil-based sauce. Prawn Dynasty version is more like a steamed chicken topped with plenty of friend minced garlic. The dish was just mediocre and paled in comparison with other dishes.
Stir Fried French Beans with Seaweed (Small – RM18.00)
I like the addition of crispy seaweed that imparted the extra umami flavour and saltiness to the vegetables.
Crab Meat Bean Curd (Small – RM18.00)
A less intense flavour bean curd dish to balance up the above sumptuous dishes that we had. (✪‿✪)ノ
Verdict: The prawns dishes definitely scored up to my expectations and it’s really an awesome deal for the current prawn promotion. Hurry up, pay a visit before the promotion end!

PH, yes, can’t miss for prawn lovers!
Other than the above type of fish, are there other fish like tilapia, garoupa, soon hock etc? Besides prawns, are the other dishes above average?
ray, food was above average during my visit, both prawn and non prawn dishes.
Oh, thank you for highlighting this place near me….I didn’t even know of its existence (and I now have a new place for my family dinners). ^_* I like the look of all the dishes though prices seem to be on the higher end based on the small portions of each dish.
Kris, actually I think the portion is very decent for the price (restaurant standard), maybe you should try it out to determine the “worthy-ness” ^__^
