New Menu @ Passione Ristorante Italiano, Sri Petaling

I knew I can always count on Passione Ristorante Italiano to served quality and scrumptious dishes aim to please! The inviting ambiance as well as the impeccable service are good enough to warrant return visits. So, I was back to my favourite Italian restaurant a couple of weeks ago for lunch.

Adore the lovely setting and ambiance that exuded a pleasing sense of tranquility.

We were seated near the open kitchen where the kitchen team was busily whipping up dishes in an orderly and calm manner.

Al-fresco dining area.

I was introduced to their newly revamped menu which showcases local produces to support local food and farmers. Assorted porcine dishes from the menu are prepared using local Black Pig (Berkshire) farmed in Kampar, Perak. The pigs were fed with a balanced and nutritious diet and contain no antibiotics, muscle drugs and growth hormones. The seafood is sourced from Pangkor Island which is freshly caught daily.

Set lunch menu featuring some of the popular dishes in their ala carte menu which is available daily. The set comprised the main course, a drink and a soup.

Drink of the day – Iced and hot lemon tea

Soup of the day – Mushroom soup, nicely creamy and each spoonful left a pleasant aroma of fungi behind.

Berkshire Tagliatelle (RM25.00 / Ala carte – RM35.00 )

The fresh Tagliatelle made daily from scratch were coated with tangy and vibrant tomato sauce, studded with bits of marinated and braised Berkshire trotter and topped with shaved cheese. Tomato sauce base pasta always be a favorite of many and the version here is delightfully rustic and flavourful. The braised Berkshire trotter not those braised-till-soft texture but had a good meat bite that rather enjoyable.

Braised Berkshire Pig’s Belly (RM26.00 / Ala carte – RM32.00)

The beautifully braised cubes of pork belly sit in a brown savory pool of moreish gravy with some edamame. The appearance resembled the Chinese braised pork belly ‘Dong Po Rou’, but the texture was slightly different. This Braised Berkshire Pig’s Belly was oven roasted in red wine and veal stock for six hours, seeping up all the beautiful flavours of the sauce. The texture of the meat wasn’t the tenderest I have had and would definitely prefer a softer and tenderer bite of meat. No faults on this but simply a matter of preference. The flavour on the other hand was persuasively appealing with the familiar comfort notes of savory coupled with light tinges of sweetness from the porcine that made this pork belly a fairly memorable dish.

Fish Bouillabaisse (RM30.00)

This dish has Barramundi fillet and clams bathed in luscious tomato soup. The flavours of broth was bold with gorgeous tomato fruity and tangy notes that is perfect to whet the appetite. The fish and clams added a welcoming ocean note to the the overall flavour. The stew is perfect for seafood lovers looking for some indulgence and comfort pleasure.

Some dishes in the menu are served either with rice or pasta and the pasta is not the plain ordinary pasta that I/you would have thought. We had this aglio olio with house made spaghetti cooked to al-dente to paired with the fish stew and braised pork belly.

Verdict: It’s certainly a nice gesture to use local produces to help local agricultural sector which has been facing quite an impact since the MCO period. Bravo, Passione Ristorante Italiano!

The set lunch menu felt value for money and as far as the food was concerned, it was a satisfying lunch with hearty Italian dishes set in a beautiful environment with excellent service!
