Ho-Me Palace 红粤酒家@ Plaza Arkadia, Desa Park City

Before drafting this post, I clicked into their FB page to check out if they are still operation. (^^;)

Obviously, they are still doing well hence the you can read my post here. (^^)v

Ho-Me Palace 红粤酒家, a Chinese restaurant specializes in handmade Dim Sum and a variety of  Cantonese cuisine. We were here on a weekend morning for the Dim Sum which is one of our favourite breakfast options.

The restaurant has two dining area, ground floor and second floor, as well as some private rooms. The main dining area at ground floor was bright and airy. It boasted a simple elegant interior with soothing earthy tones, wooden and brass accents featured throughout. Also occupied the space were the wine cellar filled with good collection of wines, open kitchen that showcasing the chefs’ actions as well as fish tanks with live seafood.

Steamed Siew Mai with Prawn (RM9.80)

Plump and meaty, topped with fresh whole prawn & real ebiko (many Dim Sum restaurant used coloured sago =.=”), the Siew Mai tasted the way it should.

Steamed BBQ Pork Bun (RM6.80)

Soft fluffy bun but the filling was a bit scarce.

Steamed Cheong Fun with Crispy Roll (RM8.80)

This dish has become my obligatory order whenever I see it in the menu. Ho-Me’s rendition was slightly different with the usual Zha Liong. Instead of You Tiao, the crispy roll (I’m guess it was deep fried rice paper like Vietnamese spring roll ) filled with prawns then wrapped with steamed Cheong Fun. It was well executed with slippery smooth steamed rice sheet, crispy wrap and bouncy prawns, provided a multitude of textures and flavours.

Pan Fried Radish Cake (RM8.80)

The contrasting crisp layer with the soft creamy center was so delicious with delightful umani flavour from the dried shrimps and Chinese waxed sausage bits.

Steamed Chicken Glutinous Rice (RM6.80)

The Loh Mai Gai was not too soft but retained a nice sticky rice texture. It was well-seasoned with the essential sweet and tasty dark sauce together with the chicken, mushroom and Chinese sausage.

Porridge with Minced Meat & Century Egg (RM8.80)

Silky smooth on texture while taste was rather gentle with traces of flavour from the minced meat and century egg. Crushed bean curd sheet for that extra crispy factor. The portion was fairly big and I recommend sharing this to save room for other Dim Sum.

Deep Fried Prawn Dumplings (RM10.80)

My least favourite item of that day because the dumpling skin was a tad thick and tended to stick in teeth. I would have appreciated a bit more lemon mayo sauce for those dumplings too.

♥Verdict: Food was above average although the price range might be on higher side but commensurate with comfortable environment, pleasant ambiance and attentive service.

  • I think the prices are quite decent for that kind of comfort and environment. Even coffee shop style dim sum costs RM5 – RM7 these days. I’ve never had chee cheong fun wrapped with a crispy roll inside (I was wondering why it was so plump!). One look at the first photo of the radish cake I already know it’ll be good….and the lor mai kai too. P/S: Ya, these days when we want to put up a post of a restaurant we visited some time back, we need to check first if they’re still operating as the pandemic has caused many businesses to shut down. >_<

    • Kris, true. It’s quite sad especially those we frequented and they closed down because of the pandemic. 🙁
Hopefully this place can survive until everything back to normal and you can have a try on their food.

  • hah..hah…ya lor…these days with restaurants calling it a day, best to check first. The dim sum all look good and yoru review is mostly favorable. I need to eat some dim sum soon. Really miss it but somehow did not manage to go from MCO 1.0 until MCO 3.0. LOL!

  • I miss having proper dimsum…

  • Wow!! How could I miss this place when my office is upstairs another block. Thanks for waking me up and I want to dine-in to eat in such lovely ambiance. Your photos are lovely and very tempting.
