Gerai Makan Golden Beach Corner @ Taman Mastiara, K.L
Don’t misled by the name of this restaurant because it’s nowhere near a beach. (´∀`)
Gerai Makan Golden Beach Corner is slightly hidden, nestled in an industrial area, amongst the car workshops and warehouses. Parking can be a pain in the neck and be warned that you may have to expect a queue if you plan to come on weekend.
Contrasting with the simple main dining area, there is another section which is decorated with a huge deal of flairs. It’s a courtyard with two big trees and tables were placed within that area. There is an array of old school ornaments and items (tools, make up, toys and etc) being displayed on the shelves.
The decors played heavily on the nostalgic feeling and there’re a few corners to explore.
PS: These are not real chicken, LOL
Familiar local delights dominated the menu, there were extensive selection of noodles (Pan Mee, Fish Noodles Soup, Bitter Gourd Noodles Soup, Claypot Lau Shu Fen, Wat Dan Hor, Fried Chee Cheong Fun, Wonton Mee, Tom Yum Noodles, & etc), rice dishes (Nasi Lemak with assorted of toppings, lemon chicken Rice, fried rice, stewed rice, & etc), toasties, side dishes (fish balls soup, Bayam Soup, fried chicken) and variety of beverages. Price range is very affordable with everything priced below RM15.
Kopi O (RM2.20)
Pork Lard Rice (RM7.30)
Pork lard, pork lard crisp, braised minced meat and sunny side up, mixed well with the rice, rendering a rice concoction with mind-blowing flavours and texture.
Claypot Lao Shu Fen (RM9.00)
The smooth slippery silver needle noodles braised in dark, thick and flavourful gravy, it was decent and fulfilling.
Panmee (RM7.50)
Only hand torn noodles was offered here, although I prefer those made with noodle maker. 😛 The flavour of the anchovies broth was rather pronounced, paired with chewy noodles, pork slices, mushrooms and fried anchovies, it was quite competent.
Fried Chicken (RM7.50)
Freshly fried with crunchy skin and succulent meat, however the flavour (or marinade) was less exciting.
Morning Kaki (RM5.80)
My obligatory order of half boiled eggs and toasted bread.
♥ Verdict: I definitely like the wallet friendly price range and the food we had were fairly satisfying. However, revisit seem like quite impossible, at least for the moment due to their rising popularity and full house scene and perpetual queue are the common phenomenon here during weekends.

The decor is definitely interesting, so quaint! Those old school powder boxes sure brings back memories – my late grandmother used those type of face powder. I was expecting the food to be just ordinary since some places are big on decorations but the food is not as spectacular. However this does not seem to be the case with eatery.
PH, good food, good price, good spot for photography, these can very much explain why this place so popular.
