Ju Ga & Cook @ Plaza Damas, Sri Hartamas

Manned by Korean, this little Korean restaurant nestled in Plaza Damas definitely a hidden gem and my best discovery for first half of 2022!

It’s a fuss free restaurant with very minimal decoration of food photos on one of the walls. Be warned that the ventilation of the shop was less satisfying due to the “half” open kitchen. There were several al-fresco seating on the corridor of the shop too if you don’t want to smell like stir fried spicy pork after your meal. (◞‸◟)

Ready to eat food such as Gimbap, Japchae and some banchan are sold in the shop too.

Although the menu wasn’t really extensive, with mostly familiar Korean dishes such as Kimchi stew, spicy stir fried with rice, pancakes and Tteokbokki, but there were a few items that attracted my attention, to be precise, the noodle selections.

Soft Tofu Stew (RM22.00)

The set came with Korean purple rice, three types of banchan and a small bowl of soup.

The tofu stew was laden with silken smooth tofu, minced pork, Enoki Mushrooms, onion and egg. The spiciness level was tolerable and the broth hitting the right notes for flavours.

Stir Fried Beef Rice (RM26.00)

All rice dishes are served as set with banchan and soup.

Portion wise, decent for one person serving. The dish was nicely executed with tender beef slices, shredded carrot, onion and Enoki Musrooms stir fried in Bulgogi sauce. The sweet savoury flavour of the dish went well with the rice.

Stir Fried Pork Rice (RM24.00)

Pork slices and cabbage stir fried with Korean spicy sauce. It showcased a comforting level of spiciness with a mellow of sweetness, which was enough to get your appetite kicking in full gear.

Handmade Noodles Soup in Perilla Seeds (RM22.00)

This was one of the items in the menu that attracted me and I had it on our second visit. The handmade noodles resemble our hand torn Panmee was perfectly made with al-dente and chewy texture. The murky soup was cooked with Perilla Seeds which had a pleasant nutty flavour. There were clams meat and shredded zucchini to complete the dish. This certainly a comfort food which is good for the tummy and soul.

♥ Verdict: We visited this place twice in less than two months and this proved that we truly enjoyed the food and has no hesitation in recommend this place to you.
