Damansara Uptown Hokkien Mee 上城福建面 @ Damansara Utama, P.J
A photo of Hokkien Mee shared by my friend in chat group triggered my craving for that guilty pleasure food, hence the consequence – this post. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Hubby and I had visited Damansara Uptown Hokkien Mee several times when it still operated in a shabby shoplot. Now, it has been expanding to occupy three shops with total of four other branches at USJ, Kuchai Lama, Kota Damansara and Puchong.
Artsy murals decorated the exposed bricks walls with hanging light bulbs that impart a yellowish hue to the dining area. There are sufficient air conditioners and fans to ensure the comfort level of the diners. If you drop by on weekends like us, do expect a large crowd which put you on waiting list.
The menu is rather simple with fried noodles dishes take center stage. There are Hokkien Mee with different choices of noodles like the default thick yellow noodles, Meehoon, Kuey Teow, Cantonese Fried Noodles (Meehoon, Kuey Teow or Yee Mee), Loh Mee, Meehoon Soup, Fried Rice, Pork Soup, Fried Lala (signature), Fried Chicken Wings as well as vegetable stir fry. Price for fried noodles is charged according to portion, RM15.90 (1 pax), RM29.80 (2 pax) and RM43.80) (3 pax).
Hokkien Meehoon Mee (2 pax – RM29.80)
I liked the consistency of the fried noodles which was on dry side. The thick strands of noodles were braised in luscious dark aromatic soy sauce laden with cabbage, pork slices, 3 sizeable prawns and the essential pork lard.
Fried Chicken Wings (2pcs – RM11.00)
Served pipping hot, the freshly fried chicken wings were well marinated with enjoyable crunchy skin and succulent flesh.
Bitter Gourd Meat Soup (1 pax – RM15.90)
Generous amount of thinly sliced bitter gourd and velvety pork slices (coated with corn starch) submerged in adequately flavoured broth, with sprinkles of fried garlic bits as well as fried pork lard that enhanced the flavour further.
Verdict: Certainly a decent place for Hokkien Mee, although this is not the best I’ve eaten.

This is local’s favorite after clubbing time kan? haha
KY, when my time, I went Dim Sum at Jalan Ipoh or Teochew porridge at Pudu after clubbing, LOL.
CY, during my time after clubbing, I also went for Teochew porridge & Hokkien mee…but never dim sum though….lol.
Kris, I didn’t expect you’re a “wet” kaki also!
Wow, from a shabby lot to 3 nice-looking shoplots….they must be doing something right with their Hokkien mee. The prawns are certainly sizeable for a plate of Hokkien mee. I remember PH not liking this Hokkien mee (my husband also thinks it’s just ok, so he refuses to bring me there…lol). Maybe I can convince him now since they expanded to 3 lots….hah..hah.
Kris, this certainly not the best I’ve tried like I said, but still can eat lah, haha! But all the way from Cheras, I don’t think it’s worthy. =.=”
They are doing very well and I am quite puzzled because to me the taste is not that great. I wonder if you noticed another small Hokkien Mee restaurant along the same row. It’s called Tiong Hokkien Mee (near AA Pharmacy). I find that their Hokkien Mee a lot tastier.
PH, I initially wanted to eat at Tiong HM, but hubby insisted to go to DUHM. >_<
I have been enjoying their Hokkien Mee and Fried Chicken for years. They still have so many customers and expanded so well. That means majority of the public enjoy their food. My friends from Penang and UK gave them top rating.
TM, I can see this place is not only popular among the locals but tourists also as I saw 2 groups of tourists (accompanied by locals) were dining there during my visit.
