Old Hands Cafeteria @ Glomac Centro, P.J
Yay, we explored new place for our Sunday breakfast hunt and seem like this new discovered area got many cafes and eateries worth to explore!
Like usual, after our first round of breakfast (will blog about it on next post), we started to search for our next hang out spot for dessert or light bites. Like what I mentioned, there are good amount of cafes and we finally settled at this quaint little cafe – Old Hands Cafeteria, located at the quiet commercial lot under Glomac Centro Serviced Apartment.
2/3 of the cafe space is occupied by the kitchen and the dining area only able to accommodate 6-8 customers.
Old Hands cafeteria is known for its handmade Japanese pastries like Daifuku Mochi, Taiyaki and Anpan, as well as Matcha drinks made by using Matcha powder imported from Kyoto. I love the coziness and the laid-back vibe of the cafe, with soft jazz music at the background, the atmosphere was just relaxed enough for us to kick back and have a good chat. The decor like hand-drawn sketches and posters evoke Japanese feel which reflect the origin of the the owner, Okamoto-san.
Other than the aforementioned signature items, the menu also covers small collection of hot food such as Okonomiyaki (RM20-RM22) and breakfast plate (RM19.50), as well as other desserts include croissant with different fillings (RM7-RM12.50), artisan ice cream (RM8-RM9), Yuzu Burnt Cheesecake (RM32), Raku Chocolate (RM42), Raindrop Cake (RM15)and Japanese Custard Pudding (RM8.50). The beverage list features coffees, teas (Matcha, Hojicha & Genmaicha Sencha), fruit juices, Kombucha, sodas and Ramune.
Matcha Latte (RM15.00) & Americano (RM10.00)
I don’t normally order drink when dine in but as a Matcha lover I couldn’t resist to give a try on their Matcha drink which is made by using Kyoto imported Matcha powder. The bitterness of the Matcha was discernible and I can assure that no sugar was added as the drink didn’t taste sweet at all.
Mitarashi Dango (RM13.00)
Soft and glutinous rice ball coated with sweet soy glaze, simple but performed perfectly.
Red Bean Mochi Taiyaki (RM10.00)
The menu offers a few filling for the Taiyaki such as red bean, cream cheese, dark chocolate, chocolate and savoury Taiyaki sandwich, priced from RM9 to RM12.50.
Freshly made upon order, the size of this fish-shaped cake wasn’t big but generously filled with gooey Mochi and red bean paste filling. Slightly crispy on the outer but lack of the buttery fragrant that I would have hoped.

Complimentary a cup of Japanese Custard Pudding when you checked in (scan QR code).
The popular flavours like strawberry and yam of its sought after handmade Daifuku Mochi were sold out that day.
Verdict: Great soothing ambience and lovely desserts, Old Hands Cafeteria can be a decent option if you’re looking for a less crowded place to chill out. The only downside is the price is on the higher side. (´・_・`)
