JPOT Japanese Yakiniku & Hotpot @ Jalan Mega Mendung, K.L

When the sister “jio” for dinner, I can’t decline, even though I know the meal will burn a hole in my pocket. (-ฯ‰-;)

She wanted to eat MEAT, a lot, a lot of MEAT and she was aiming at JPOT Japanese Yakiniku & Hotpot, which offer ๐€๐ฅ๐ฅ-๐˜๐จ๐ฎ-๐‚๐š๐ง-๐„๐š๐ญ ๐‰๐š๐ฉ๐š๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ž A5 Wagyu Yakiniku and hotpot.

There are 3 price packages which offer different categorizes of meat and food. Only RM258/pax and RM398/pax provide A5 Wagyu Beef and we went for the “cheapest” RM128/pax under majority rule although the sis wanted to splurge for the A5. (๏ฝ€โˆ€ยด )ฮจ

FYI, all diners in same group/table have to get the same package.

Senior citizen and kids over 110cm – 50% discount. Kids under 110cm – FOC.

The restaurant is located on first floor of the shophouse in the busy commercial area of Jalan Mega Mendung, off Old Klang Road. Parking is a bit of pain in the neck due to the great number of eateries and retail shops in the vicinity.ย

We were ushered to our reserved table once we arrived and the staff explained to us the food that included in the package that we took. The dining area is furnished with banquette seats and normal tables and chairs. The special feature of the blue starry ceiling add a romantic touch to the ambience. Ventilation system was good, there’s no unpleasant odour throughout or after the dinner.

The sauce counter with different condiments, noodles, as well as two types of sliced cakes.ย

Beverage and soft serve counter.

Curry beef rice was the only food offered at the self-service counter.

These refillable appetizers were served to us once we were seated.ย

Each of us got a plate of Sashimi Salmon and prawn. (non refillable)ย

We opted for Sukiyaki soup for the hoptpot.

We had unlimited order of two different cut of Angus Beef and marinated boneless chicken. The texture of both beef cut didn’t turn out to be the tasty treat that we were expecting, no matter for Shabu Shabu or Yakiniku. They were tough and some were chewy, our experience undoubtedly fell short of satisfaction. โ—๏ธฟโ—

Refillable vegetables platter consisted of sweet corn, onion, Shiitake Mushrooms, Enoki Mushrooms, leek, Chinese Cabbage and Romaine Lettuce.

We like the fresh seafood of the seafood platter but it was limited to one serving per table only.ย

Those shrimp paste, cuttlefish paste and fish paste were meaty and bouncy after being cooked in the hotpot broth.

Refillable fried food – fries, Takoyaki, croquette, fish cakes, soft shell crab and Kaarage. They did not hit us with huge surprise.

The charcoal Yakiniku stove.

DIY Taiyaki was an interesting experience. (*หŠแ—œห‹๏พ‰๏พ‰*

Taiyaki filled with soft serve and other toppings such as Oreo cookies crumbs, Biscoffย cookieย crumbs, Pocky sticks, and a few more.

Matcha and Vanilla soft serve.

Verdict: I’m not sure about the quality of its Japanese A5 Wagyu Beef, but the beef that we had were definitely not on a stellar level. For a better experience (in terms of beef quality), I would suggest to try the more premium packages. >_<

  • Luckily you did not splurge on the more premium package in case the beef is not stellar. The seafood platter is not enough to go round (ok if there were just 2 pax) but not for a bigger group of 4-6 of you? Then again, one can’t really expect too much from a Japanese all-you-can-eat at that price since an a la carte Japanese meal these days can cost that much already. >.<

  • Kris, the seafood platter we just left it for my mom who doesn’t consume beef. =.=”
I should have lower my expectation on the quality of the beef, but other than that, the meal is quite okay.
