Fei Fei Little Kitchen @ Residensi Herz, Kepong

Our (hubby and I) initial plan was bring Sam to try out Hai Kah Lang since she has never tried it before and we also found that the PJ outlet seem like lesser crowded when we passed by a couple of weeks ago. Sam agreed to join us for Sunday breakfast on Saturday night but did an about face to stay at home instead in the Sunday morning. (-_-). So we changed our plan to have our breakfast at Fei Fei Little Kitchen, one of the restaurants in my to-try list.

Located at the bustling area of Kepong Baru that filled with quite a number of eateries and retail shops, find a parking is a bit of hassle.

The layout of the restaurant is simple and comfy with air-conditioners.

The menu is simple and straightforward – only noodle dishes and some snacks are provided with the Wonton Mee, Curry Mee and Hakka Mee being their signature dish.

Char Siew Fried Wonton Curry Noodles (Small – RM10.90)

Our bowl of curry noodles was laden bountifully with fried Wonton, Char Siew, bean curd sheet, bean curd puffs and long beans. The curry broth in bright orange hue was just decent in my book. The broth wasn’t in thick consistency and lack of that creaminess from the coconut milk. I like that they were not skimp on the ingredients, I specially adored how the fried Wonton fully absorbed the flavour of the curry broth.

Fried + Soup Mix Wonton Mee (Small – RM9.90)

We had our default order of dry Wonton Mee, which looked legit from its appearance, with sufficient dark soy sauce dressing. The noodle was adeptly cooked to a lovely springy texture, but the taste wasn’t really impressive to me. The pork lard taste and aroma were absence, thus I couldn’t find any pork lard in the noodles. The overall flavour was rather welcoming on the palate but still lie below expectation.

The filling of the wonton was mere generic.

Fried Stuffed Yam Bean (RM7.00)

Arrived pipping hot to our table, the freshly fried Sar Kok Liew had a crispy outer bean curd skin with filling with an “interesting” glutinous texture. Flavour wise, not too salty with decent seasoning which I can enjoy happily.

Verdict: Hits and misses, Fei Fei Little Kitchen was a more than decent place to head to for some straightforward food, nothing too outstanding though. The Sar Kok Liew is something I would love to return for.
