Bottega Mediterranea @ Taman Megah, P.J

We have been a fan of Bottega Mediterranea since our first dining at their KL outlet.  We dined in several times and even brought home our favourite Charcuterie Board and a few of their delectable range of pizzas. I was pretty rejoiced over the opening of the PJ branch of this Italian Cafe & Grocer because the location is more accessible and nearer to me.

Finally after almost 2 years of the opening of its PJ branch, we finally made it to visit this third outlet (second outlet is at Penang) that occupies two shop lots in Taman Megah.

This outlet certainly has bigger capacity for both dining and grocer. Like its KL outlet, the display chiller and shelves with assorted imported products, cheeses and cold cut. Apart from the impressive selection of charcuteries and aged cheeses, other merchandises include extra virgin olive oil and vinegar in various brands, dry and frozen pastas, sauces, canned food, pickles, biscuits, sweets, beans, rice, grains, coffee (grounded & whole), beers, wines and spirits. There are a few seating and cooking station as well sharing this space.

Walked further into the second section is wholly taken by coloured wooden tables and black leather cushioned chairs. Murals in both black and vibrant colours, framed artworks, hanging light bulbs and large windows that look out to the busy streets of the neigbourhood.

Menu with details is very much appreciated but if it’s still not picturable for you, there’s photo of the dishes by scanning the QR menu. Bottega Mediterranea offers a delectable range of Italian fares, ranging from pizzas, pastas, salads, risotto, appetizers, main course and desserts.

There is a good collections of wines (included high rating premium wines) to elevate your dining experience. Do check out their FB Page or Instagram for their monthly events and parties which are featuring free-flow of cold & hot dishes.

Charcuteries Board (2 pax – RM68.00)

Our obligatory order when we are here. Featuring a variety of ham, salami, cheeses, dipping, pickles and a basket of bread. I reckon this would be great if paired with a glass or two.  ( ^^)ノ口      (☆ω☆*)

Guancette (RM59.00)

Served in a ring of velvety smooth mashed potato, the 36-hours slow cooked pork cheek with diced celery, carrots and onion in pork jus was a tad too salty to be consumed alone. Luckily there were some bread from the Charcuteries Board to go with the gravy which was savoury and robust in flavour. The pork cheek with almost all lean meat was fork-tender and fully absorbed the flavour of the braising sauce.

Bolognese (RM36.00)

Cooked to prefect al-dente texture, the house made tagliatelle was submerged in a light tasting tomato sauce with generous slow cooked pork ragout and grated cheese.

Verdict: The pièce de résistance of the meal was still the Charcuteries Board, perhaps the chef was a little bit heavy handed when comes to salt that day. Hits and misses for our first visit to this PJ branch, like what I mentioned, we had pleasant experiences on their pizzas and the service team was friendly and attentive, so Bottega Mediterranea still a place that we’ll happy to return.
