Copper Mansion @ Section 51A, P.J

Instead of our usual Dim Sum place, hubby suggested Copper Mansion as one of our family breakfast gatherings a few months back.

We visited the one located in Section 51A, Petaling Jaya, Copper Mansion has another two outlets at Geno Hotel Subang Jaya and Subang Jaya USJ respectively.

The restaurant was spacious and beautifully elegant with an impressive high ceiling fitted with opulent chandeliers. The space was brilliantly sectioned into the main dining area, private rooms as well as a large-scale event venue.

The waiter was rinsing the utensils for us and service was quite attentive throughout our meal.

The live cooking station and spread of dishes served on burner to be chosen by diners. Below were some of the dishes available:-

Bitter Gourd Braised Fish with Bean Curd Sticks

Pork Knuckle Vinegar

Curry Fish Balls with Pork Skin

Be expected for higher price range for such an upscale Chinese restaurants. The price for steamed Dim Sum clocked in from RM7.80 to RM12.80, while the fried Dim Sum from RM8.80 to RM13.80.

Appetizer price ranging from RM10.00 to RM38.00 which included Crispy Prawn Crackers (RM10.00), Japanese Octopus (RM15.00), Century Egg with Pickled Ginger (RM18.00), Cystallized Iceplant Salad (RM38.00), Deep Fried French Beans with Thai Sauce (RM12.00) and etc.

Noodles and rice dishes also available such as the usual Fried Hokkien Mee (RM40.00), Cantonese Style King Water Prawn Kuey Teow (RM60.00), Copper Mansion Fried Rice (RM 40.00), 2 BBQ combination Rice (RM20.00) and a few more.

The dessert selection combined some of the crowd-pleasing items of Baked Egg Tarts (RM7.80), Red Bean Soup (RM8.00), Black Glutinous Rice with Coconut Milk (RM12.00), Sesame Glutinous Ball in Ginger Soup (RM8.00) and Lemongrass Jelly (RM8.00), just to name a few.

Steamed Siew Mai with Prawn (RM10.30)

Packed with juicy pork and fresh prawns, the Siew Mai were plump and satisfying with lovely savory flavors and great texture.

Steam Prawn Dumpling (RM10.30)

Another crucial check point for a fabulous dim sum is the Prawn Dumpling or ‘Har Gau’. Copper Mansion version had nice thin skin that is sufficient enough to hold its juicy fillings without tearing apart when lifted. Every morsel was filled with chunks of fresh prawns with a natural sweetness, it didn’t take long for us to gobble them all up!

Steamed BBQ Pork Bun (RM9.80)

The Bao were fluffy while the Char Siew filling was sweet, savory and sticky to the taste.

Steamed Glutinous Rice (RM10.30)

Studded with chicken chunks, Char Siew, mushroom and Lap Cheong (Chineses waxed sausage), the glutinous rice was soft and flavourful.

Shanghai Xiao Long Bao (RM9.80)

Another favourite of us during Dim Sum session. These Xiao Long Bao were considerably good but certainly not at par with other Xiao Long Bao specialist. They were fared good in terms of the thin skin engulfing a broth of meaty filling.

Shredded Pork Porridge with Century Egg (RM9.80)

There were six varieties of porridge in the menu – Plain, Fish Fillet, Mixed Seafood, US Beef Ball, Shredded Pork with Century Egg, Century Egg & Salted Egg. The porridge was silky smooth on texture while flavors were gentle with traces of savoury taste of marinated pork. The portion is fairly big and I recommend sharing to save room for other Dim Sum.

Steamed Cheong Fun with Shrimp (RM10.30)

I hope I got the name of this dish correct. >_< This was similar with one of my favourite Dim Sum – Zha Liong, which is You Tiao aka Chinese cruller wrapped with rice sheet, but kind of elevated version. There were prawn and crunchy bites in the rice sheet roll and topped with tabiko which offered great play on textures. They were really scrumptious with the sauce served along.

Steamed Cheong Fun with BBQ Pork (RM9.80)

This was just mediocre though, perhaps I’m not really a fan of it. 😛

Pan Fried Radish Cake (RM9.80)

Steamed radish cakes fully loaded with shredded radish and studded with dried shrimps and Lap Cheong were pan seared until they had a nice crisp skin. The contrasting crisp layer with the soft creamy center is so delicious. It has good robust savory flavours too.

Pig Stomach Soup

Portion was generous but probably needed to work on the flavour of the soup as the ‘gamey” taste of the pig stomach was a tad too strong even the pickled mustard green didn’t help much to mask the taste.

Yong Tau Foo

This claypot Yong Tau Foo was decent with generous meat filling on each ingredients.

♥Verdict: Not a restaurant that we can afford to visit regularly but food wise, you can assure that the quality and service justify the price paid.
