Read my previous breakfast post HERE or the whole series HERE

Dim sum definitely a popular choice when come to breakfast, this time I’m going to introduce you a newbie in town which opened its door less than a year ~ Dragon Gate Dim Sum. Located at the food hub of Kota Damanasara with a strong competitor of Jin Xuan, let’s see what they offer!

Highly stacked basket was a sight to behold and yes we ate a lot that day, almost like this!

Spacious, airy and bright with the huge glass panels allow natural light penetrated in. Huge poster of dim sum adorning the wall makes one drooling before the meal started.

The fried dim sum displayed in the cabinet.

Front: Sugar Cane with Water Chestnut & Sea Coconut with Longan

Iced Tea

Other than the usual Chinese Tea there are other choices of beverage such as herbal drink, coffee, and milk tea.

 Siew Mai (RM4.20)

Har Gau (RM4.20)

Both obligatory orders during dim sum session were decent but there was lil gripe found in siew mai that the meat was too finely grounded and lost its bouncy texture.

All bao were executed well with decent amount of filling.

Glutinous Rice Village Style (RM 3.80)

Well flavored, soft and moist, it had all my requirement for a good Loh Mai Gai!

Cabbage Dumpling

In pleasant green hue encasing the shrimp and vegetable filling.

Dumplings with Superior Soy Sauce (RM 4.20)

Sui Kow soaked in a superior soy sauce.

Shrimp Rolls with Mango (RM 4.20)

An ingenious combination of shrimp paste and mango but it could be better if they can put a larger chunk of mango in it 😛

Lotus Leaf Glutinous Rice (RM 4.20)

Minced meat, dried shrimp, Chinese Sausage and mushroom were founded in the huge dumpling, every bite was surprise!

Stewed Chicken Feet

Well braised until soft, considerably good in my books.

Beancurd Rolls with Shrimp (RM 4.20)

Crispy and delicious without a trace of oil, yummy~

BBQ Pies (RM 4.20)

Light & fluffy pastry enveloping the generous amount of char siew filling. I like the moist filling compensated the slightly dry texture of the pastry.

Jade Sesame Ball (RM 3.00)

Egg Tarts (RM 3.00)

Steamed Pork Ribs (RM 4.20)

Steamed pork ribs simply a must when I patronize dim sum shop. The pork ribs was perfectly steamed where the juiciness and tenderness still retained; coupled with robust flavors from the marinade, a thumb up for this!

Radish Cake (RM 3.00)

One of the best I’ve eaten with superb crisp outer and creamy soft interior. Passed with flying colours!

Fried Radish Cake with X. O. Sauce ( RM4.50)

Come with huge portion, the radish cake cubes was awesomely aromatic and tasty with bursting flavors from the X.O Sauce, egg and chives.

Spinach Cheong Fun with Shrimps (RM 4.50)

A nice twist to the normal chee cheong fun and other varieties also available here are the original Char Siew or Shrimp Cheong Fun and Cheong Fun with Scallops.

 Za Liong

Plain Chee Cheong Fun with You Tiau (Chinese cruller) wrapped in served with a soy sauce dipping.

Shanghai Fried Rice Sheet with Shrimp (RM 6.00)

It was not my first try on this at a dim sum joint but this definitely an unusual item as I hardly found this at other places. The chewy rice sheet provide a good bite texture and manage to absorb the flavors and wok hei imparted during stir frying.

Phoenix Shrimps with Seaweed (RM 6.00)

Shrimp paste and a whole shrimp was wrapped with seaweed and bread crumbs then deep fried; I bet kids will love the crunchiness of it!

Bacon Rolls with Honey Sauce (RM 6.00)

Things will never goes wrong when food combine with bacon right? 😛

Sweet Potato & Yam Cake (RM 4.20)

Resembled croquette but with velvety mashed sweet potato and yam filling, I love this simply because I have a soft spot for both sweet potato and yam 🙂

Shanghai Xiao Long Bao (RM 6.00)

Silken and adequately filled with moistening minced pork filling.

Herbal Chicken (RM 6.00)

I always can’t resist a good herbal soup, this definitely had me singing with joy as the generous amount of herbal used rendering the intensely flavored broth and not to mention the tender piece of chicken. I drank it until the last drop~~

Seafood Dumpling Soup (RM 10.00)

A giant dumpling soaked in a clear and light broth with subtle taste from the seafood.

Durian Pancake (RM 6.00)

Mango Pudding (RM 4.20)

Water Chestnut with White Fungus (RM 4.20)

Verdict: Good variety of more than 70 choices of  dim sum available. The setting was comfortable and air-conditioned, revisit definitely a must as my family members are dim sum aficionado 🙂
