Ginger Heritage @ Bentong, Pahang
After the National Elephant Conservation Center visit, we stopped in Bentong en route home and took a rest at this little cafe before proceeded to our dinner.
When mention Bentong, a town in Pahang state, there’s a good chance that the word “Ginger” will come into mind. Bentong, is synonymous with this tropical herb (commonly known as Bentong Ginger) that is more pungent, spicier and pricier than ordinary ginger.
As its name implies, Ginger Heritage’s simple one-pager menu is filled with ginger inspired dishes, available in both sweet and savoury dishes, as well as a short list of beverages.
The cafe has an open space dining area, in white and turquoise theme with food photos decorate the walls.
Walked further is another dining area, with pots of leafy greens, water feature and wooden platform seating, in keeping with the laidback vibe.
Apart from serving food, Ginger Heritage also offers assorted merchandises include cookies, candies, ginger powder, ginger soap and ginger spray, all in very attractive packaging.
Ginger Tonic Float (RM10.00)
This is cafe’s signature drink featuring ginger soda topped with a scoop of Vanilla ice cream and pickled ginger, with ginger infused syrup at the bottom to sweeten the drink. The drink wasn’t too sweet and the pickled ginger was a compelling element that spiced up the experience.
Ginger Boba Milk (RM8.00)
It’s usual Boba Milk with ginger infused brown sugar syrup.
Honey Lemon (RM6.00)
Sangkaya Fak Thong (RM6.00)
This is a traditional Thai dessert in which a hollowed-out pumpkin is filled with a creamy coconut milk custard, cooked until tender and sliced into wedges like a pie. Ginger Heritage version was rather delish with soft pumpkin (I would have hoped for sweeter one), smooth and mild tasting custard, and sweet ginger infused sauce.
Verdict: If you like ginger and you’re around Bentong, come to try out some ginger food and drinks!

Yes, Bentong ginger is well famous for being more fragrant than our regular ginger. I remember having it with some steamed dishes before.
Kris, I know Bentong ginger is more “spicy” and expensive. 😛

I’ve tried Ginger Heritage Cafe before and loved all the ginger desserts. And the Ginger soap is suitable for people who have Eczema.
