Guang Ji Ho Fun 广记 @ Jalan San Peng, K.L

Located right beside San Peng Prawn Mee, Guang Ji Ho Fun is another food stall that has been built up a stellar reputation for its trusty bowl of Gai Si Ho Fun (shredded chicken rice noodles).

The roadside stall with quite plenty of seating was fullhouse when we arrived circa 12pm on a Sunday afternoon and we had to wait for a while (10-15 minutes) for vacant table. Menu was simple offering the signature Gai Si Ho Fun, poached chicken rice, Char Siew, Chai Boey (spicy sour mustard green), braised stuffs such as pork, intestines, eggs, tofu and chicken feet.

Gai Si Hor Fun

The persuasively orangey prawn oil floating on top of the bowl did a hint of visual excitement as soon as the noodle was served. One sip and I was taken, the prawn infused broth was so rich in taste and absolutely hit it out of the park. Paired with smooth flat rice noodles, shredded chicken, prawns, bean sprouts and fried onion, this bowl of shredded chicken noodle definitely everything you expected it to be.

Poached Chicken Rice

The rice itself was rather well flavoured. I got my favourite chicken wing part and it was smooth and tender, the soy sauce concoction played a complementing role to provide the savouriness to the dish.

Braised Pork

The Chai Boey and braised eggs were sold out so I have to settle with this instead. Although I requested for leaner meat, it was still very tender with layer of fat that almost melting yet did not taste cloying. The braise gravy was decent and I think the flavour could be more stronger.

Verdict: Total bill came up to RM50 with a portion of poached chicken rice, one bowl of noodles, blanched bean sprouts, a portion of braised pork and one bowl of fish balls soup. Very reasonable price and we were largely contented with our lunch at Guang Ji, certainly a YES for a revisit!
