Halla Holla @ Damansara Jaya
I came to know about Halla Holla from PH’s blog and it has since become one of my regular places to get my sourdough supply.
There was one Saturday Sam forgot to inform us that her tuition class was cancelled, so without any breakfast plan (it was circa 10am+), we found ourselves drove around Damansara Jaya area and passed by Halla Holla.
Here we were, our first dining at Halla Holla!
Seem like the bakery cafe was undergoing renovations (see the cemented hole on the wall) and the pastries display cabinet and cashier which were originally at the next door occupied part of the dining area.
One would be spoiled for choice when standing in front of the display cabinet with such a diverse range of sourdough breads and pastries.
Halla Holla’s menu is limited to sandwiches (open face and croissant) only. On top of that, in house soup and salad with simple add-on like smoked Salmon, roasted beef and oven braised chicken also available.
Americano (RM9.00)
Simple Cheddar (RM23.00)
From the list of Open Face Sourdough Sandwich, we got this which is more like a sharing appetizer with melted cheddar cheese, sliced tomatoes, gherkins, homemade balsamic sauce, then finished with drizzles of balsamic glaze.
The sourdough bread had a crusty outer with soft chewy inner, the sourness was rather mild which I think was acceptable by most people. The topping was quite generous as well.
Priced from RM23-28, other toppings included roasted beef, smoked Salmon, smoked mackerel, oven braised chicken breast, and there are vegetarian options like Wild Veggie Onsen Tamago, Avocado with Scrambled Egg and Egg and Mushroom.
Chicken Major (RM24.00)
Sandwiched in between the bread were oven braised chicken breast, sliced tomatoes, lettuce, cheddar cheese, balsamic sauce and mayo. The chicken breast was very lightly seasoned and I like it was go easy on the sauce, very healthy rendition I would say. The portion was very substantial that hubby only managed to finish half of the serving.
Egg and Mushroom Sonata (RM20.00)
My sandwich was generously filled with creamy egg mayo, sauteed mushroom, cheddar cheese and lettuce. Look at that oozing out filling, I struggled to finish this as well. >_<
Pistachio Diva (RM12.00)
Rather disappointed with this as it wasn’t as flaky as I would have hoped.
Sourdough Focaccia (RM15.00)
The Focaccia was rather good though. It was more sour than the above sandwich bread that we had, suit my preference nicely.
Verdict: The sandwich-based menu might be too boring for many, included my family but if you’re sandwich lover, Holla Holla certainly a place you can drop by for a hearty meal.

I am glad you visited Halla Holla! I agree that their repertoire of sandwiches can be boring. The only one I like is the Egg and Mushroom Sonata. As for pastries, the Almond Croissant and Brioche Cheesestick are good. I must try the Foccacia one day.
PH, I saw you tried the Foccacia and glad that you like it! I think I prefer Foccacia more that the sourdough loaf.
