Iberico Kitchen @ SS2, P.J

It’s hubby’s birthday dinner (^₃^)₌₃♕ and for sure I needed to find a restaurant that he really love…… Oink oink cuisine that is! ⍝◜ᐢ•⚇•ᐢ◝⍝

There are many pork specialty restaurants in town but since we were recommended to Iberico Kitchen by our friend, I think it’s a good opportunity to try it out. So I made reservation on the weekend of his birthday week, but since he was the driver, this wasn’t a surprise dinner for him. (*^^*)

The restaurant’s ambience was cozy with many piggie related decorations adorning the dining area. This place seem like a popular spot for family gathering as I could see several groups of family were dining there on that day. It’s best to call ahead to reserve a table should you have plan to visit on weekends.

As the name implies, Iberico Kitchen’s menu is offers a diversity of Iberico pork dishes, ranging from local, western, Chinese and even Japanese. Iberico of pork hails from the native of Iberian Peninsula. These breed feeds on acorns and has a good marbling throughout its meat, making the meat tender, flavoursome and moist.

There are salads, soups, charcuterie board, skewers (Herbed and Salt & Pepper Iberico Belly Skewers), mains (pork ribs, pork chop), pizzas, pastas, Nasi Lemak, Hokkien Mee, Satay, Bak Kut Teh, Pork Soup and Chashu Ramen in the menu.

Non pork dishes are limited to seafood like BBQ seafood platter, Spanish BBQ Octopus Leg and White Wine Mussels. Beverage menu is decent and the choices of dessert are Lava Cake, Affogato and Banana Split only.

Cold Cut Platter (S- RM49.90)

We always love good charcuterie board, Iberico Kitchen rendition consisted of Iberico Jamon, Salchichón, Chorizo, cheeses, mixed nuts, crackers, dried fruits and fresh cut fruits. This was just decent and it’s unquestionably outshone by the one we had at Bottega Mediterranea

Citrus Salad (RM19.90)

It’s a good portion bowl of mesclun salad, orange, grapefruit, cherry tomatoes, mixed nuts and grated cheese, tossed with tangy citrus dressing.

Charcoal Grilled Iberico Satay (RM45.90 – 10 sticks)

With almost 5 times of the price of roadside stall Satay, this better be good. 🤨

First of all, the size of the meat undoubtedly bigger than the usual Satay. Texture wise, Iberico pork is highly-prized for its tender and well-marble ratio, the well marinated meat chunks were utterly tender and beautifully grilled with lovely smoky flavour.

The peanut sauce was chunky and robust in flavour. The Iberico Satay was good on its own but the flavour was jazzed up a few notch with the dips.

Iberico Fried Hokkien Noodles (RM30.90)

There are options of with seafood only (RM28.90) and both Iberico and seafood (RM33.90).

This was barely one person’s portion. The appearance checked all the boxes, from the  strands of noodles which were lusciously coated with glistening dark sauce, to the generous sprinkling of crispy lards. The dark soy sauce was adequately savoury with that essential pork lard aroma. Tender pieces of Iberico pork slices certainly earned brownie point but I don’t think it’s a crucial component for a good plate of Hokkien Mee. For that price charged, I rather have my usual Hokkien Mee. 😛

Verdict: Hubby and I enjoyed the Iberico Satay (Sam doesn’t like fat meat) and we don’t mind returning for it. Perhaps we can try on their pork collar (chop) and pork ribs on ur next visit.
