Jeff Lee Kitchen 鲜味馆 @ Kampung Baru Sungai Buloh

The full house scene and perpetual waiting crowd are the common phenomenon here which is a clear endorsement of its popularity.

Nothing much changes on the interior since my last visit (there were a couple of visits in between also), Jeff Lee Kitchen which occupied two shop houses are fully air conditioned and I’m glad that the service was rather prompt despite the brisk business on a weekend afternoon.

One of their signature dishes – the Pipa Roasted Ducks with glistening amber skin were gloriously displayed at the open kitchen to tempt the the famished patrons.

Claypot Lou Shu Fun (RM20.00)

Along with the Minced Pork Egg Noodles, this Claypot Lou Shu Fun also another sought after dish at Jeff Lee Kitchen. I am hardly categorized to be a claypot Lou Shu Fun lover but I have developed a crush on this since my first try a few years back.

Served pipping hot in a claypot, the short and fatty silver needle noodles (another name for Lou Shu Fun) was studded with aromatic minced meat, savoury minced preserved radish and crowed with a wobbly raw egg yolk and plenty of chopped spring onion.

The flavour and texture were certainly hit the spot and this is one dish that I’m willing to sacrifice my diet for. (‘∪’)

Crispy Pork Belly with Sweet Dark Soy Sauce

A dish that I like to order for Dai Chow. The thin slices of fried till crunchy pork belly coated with savoury sweet soy sauce, never once failed to make me gleam with joy.

Stir Fried Vegetable for the Vitamin C quota.

Wat Dan Yun Choy (RM15.00)

We ordered this during another visit on the staff recommendation. The veggies were drenched in pool of thick eggy gravy, topped with salted egg yolk crumbs. I liked that the gravy was generously filled with egg and not overly starchy. The only complaint was the vegetables weren’t properly trimmed with some blackened stems. ●︿●

Guang Xi Style Stir Fried Chicken (RM25.00)

We definitely got off on the right foot by taking the staff’s recommendation! This dish is a tribute to the famous Guang Xi Steamed Chicken (or Kwong Sai Steamed Chicken), with the signature chives dipping sauce is used to stir fry with the chicken pieces. The sauce mixture of chives, ginger, garlic and chili was so robust and it took the dish to new height of flavour, making the dish memorable. It’s unpretentious dish but shouted wholesomeness.

Verdict: The Claypot Lou Shu Fun still as good as I had hope and it was indeed my ultimate comfort food and obligatory order at Jeff Lee Kitchen. The new discovery (Guang Xi Style Stir Fried Chicken and Want Dan Yun Choy) also make it to my “to-reorder” list.
