L.table @ 1 Utama Shopping Mall
On last week’s Deepavali holiday, hubby suggested that we could make a trip to downtown KL, or to be precise, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur for its vibrant and colourful Kolams.
The decoration indeed really astonishing but the weather was too scorching that day which deterred me from going near to take photos, photo above was taken by the courageous hubby. (* ゚∀゚)ノシ
Oh ya, we took public transport that day. We parked our car at Bandar Utama MRT Station and had breakfast en route to Pavilion KL by MRT.
We arrived at 1 Utama Shopping Mall circa 10.30am and L.table is the only restaurant started operation, so we settled our breakfast here.
The modern design of the restaurant is relying on a neutral colour palette to create a soothing ambience. The dining area is arranged at one side of the restaurant while another side showcases an open-plan counter as well as a few charming decorated corners. The space also filled with potted and hanging plants for both aesthetic and environmental benefits.
The menu isn’t very extensive with about 4-6 options in each category of food, included brunch, appetizer, salad, soup, gourmet burger, pasta, mains, local and dessert. Kids meals are available too.
Chai Latte (RM13.00)
Smoked Chicken Ham & Mushroom Cheese Crepe (RM30.00)
Sam opted to have this savoury crepe from the list of brunch which consisted smoked chicken ham and sauteed mushrooms, topped with melted Cheddar and Mozzarella, sit atop of mesclun salad. It just tasted the way it should, nothing to shout about, but it’s a rather filling dish I would say.
We ordered Lemongrass Chicken Wings and Mushroom Croquette from their special add-on promo of RM16.90 for two sides with any main course ordered. Other choices included Crispy Calamari, Garlic Bread, Onion Rings, Tater Tots, Roasted Vegetables, Butternut Pumpkin Soup, Truffle Mushroom Bisque and Potato Pave.
Lemongrass Chicken Wings
The chicken wings were a bit smallish in size rendering the slight dry texture, but the flavour was good with pleasant herbaceous aroma.
The Mushroom Croquette with oozing creamy filling was lusciously delicious.
This year, the Deepavali and Halloween are falling on the same day – October 31, so hubby decided to try on L.table’s three course Halloween Spooky Menu priced at RM88.
Witches Butternut Pumpkin Soup
The soup was lightly flavoured showcased the natural sweetness of the butternut squash pumpkin. Served with toasted focaccia, cherry tomatoes, olive, peach and shredded lettuce add a textural contrast to the creamy soup.
Architeuthis Squid Stuffed Risotto
Among the three mains, risotto is something that we rarely have, it was no brainer that we had to choose that. The risotto was creamy and tangy in flavours and has got a good al dente bite in the rice. Grated cheese was provided to kick up the flavour of the dish.
The tentacles part of the squid was deep fried, but it wasn’t crunchy nor soggy, it just not good. The body part was stuffed with the risotto, I’m glad that it was cooked just right, soft with good bite texture.
Poisonous Panna Cotta
The Panna Cotta was smooth and velvety with mild sweetness of the dairy and the hint of vanilla. The creamy dessert naturally complements tartness of the mixed berries compote complemented the creamy dessert perfectly. Honey coated walnut provided the sweet and crunchy element to the dessert.
Verdict: All in all, the food that we tried was above average. L.table is a decent option if you’re looking for western food in this shopping mall.

Wow, your husband ate a 3-course meal so early in the morning! :O Since you were already heading to Pavilion, why not eat there instead (since you hardly venture there) + you would also have more options by the time you get there later. There are 2 reasons why I hardly eat rissoto…1) it has got cheese, of course and 2) not used to the mushy-like, very moist consistency of the rice (which is at it should be).
Kris, the set meal was shared by me & hubby. 🙂
We had experiences of couldn’t find any restaurant that tickled our fancy at Pavilion, so hubby thought it’s a wiser decision to settle our brunch at 1U.
The risotto is supposed to have al-dente texture and not mushy-like that you mentioned, no?
Maybe mushy is not the right word….more like very moist, thickly wet kind of texture…lol. Huh, so many restaurants in Pavilion and you can’t find any that you fancy? Lol. Pavilion KL used to be a good hunting ground for food (a lot of good eats there) but I hardly venture there these days.
Kris, normally I don’t like my rice flooded with gravy/sauce which make the rice wet and mushy, but I’m okay with risotto, provided that it comes with al-dente texture.
