Lim Mee Yoke @ SS2, P.J

We really run out of idea what to eat for our breakfast a couple of Sunday ago. We found ourselves walked along one of the streets at SS2 which houses many eateries and we finally decided to settle our breakfast at Lim Mee Yoke.

The restaurant boasts a simple no frills setting, bright, airy and comfortable.

The above dishes dominate the menu with various of toppings add-on like intestine, spare ribs, pork slices, Wantan, cockles, pig blood curd and etc (from RM1.20-6.00). Light bites such as fried Wantan, fish cake, Lobak, half boiled egg, as well as toasted and steamed bread (from RM3.50-9.00) to complete your meal.

Prawn Mee (RM10.00)

Topped beautifully with all the trappings for a bowl of Prawn Mee – prawns (in tiny size but flavourful), sliced pork, halved hard boiled egg, Kangkung, bean sprouts and fried shallots were served separately on the spoon. The broth in bright red sheen was pleasantly infused with sweetness and savouriness of the prawn shells and heads. My one minor gripe was they were too stingy with the soup. >_<

Cham Loh (RM10.00)

Penangite might be familiar with this dish but it was a totally new flavour for us. Cham Loh is a mixture of Prawn Mee (Hokkien Mee) and Loh Mee, which these two noodle dishes are usually being sold together at the same vendor.

Came with a mixture of yellow noodles and vermicelli and same toppings as the Prawn Mee, the Cham Loh tasted predominantly of Loh Mee. The thick starchy gravy in dark brown hue had a flavour that’s akin to braised pork which I had at Bak Kut Teh shop and this is entirely different with what I had envisioned it to be. I noticed that the vinegar  garlic paste which is usually served with the Penang Loh Mee was missing here.

Chee Chong Fun (RM5.00)

The thin rice noodles were doused generously with the pungent ‘Hei Kor’ (shrimp paste) and abundance of sesame seeds, this certainly fixed my craving for the Penang style Chee Cheong Fun.

Verdict: For our first attempt on the Cham Loh, it was a delightful experience. The Prawn Mee also met my expectation and more than happy to add it to my revisit list.
