Lucky King Bun @ Seremban
After I confirmed my Melaka trip, I’ve marked down this restaurant when I saw Mel blogged about it.
After years of serving their signature curry chicken bun at Lukut, Lucky King Bun now branching out another outlet at Seremban which very near to PLUS highway. We were there when we heading back KL from Melaka.
The restaurant boasts a rather pleasant and retro setting with black & white mosaic tiled floor as well as some vintage ornaments adorning the place. Illumination came from the yellowish lighting and natural light that penetrate through the huge glass window.
A more private dining area can be partitioned off by putting down the curtain blinds.
A huge poster of their star dish – curry chicken bun which being featured in TV programmes as well as recommended by Tripadvisor.
These are the curry chicken buns before sending into oven. There is a open kitchen at the end of the restaurant where the diners can witness the process of the bun making.
Curry Chicken Bun (RM 32.00)
What is Curry Chicken Bun actually? It’s chicken curry with potatoes and thick gravy wrapped inside a gigantic bun. Now they are also having this Yin Yong Bun which consists of pork ribs curry and Dongpo pork (东坡肉) within the same bun.
This is what we got when the bun was served to our table; the bun was cut open in a beautiful star shape, unveil the curry chicken inside (in a parchment paper bag)
The enticing aroma of the curry attacked my nostril instantly and I couldn’t wait to dig in! The curry was provocative in flavors that makes you want to keep savoring it’s richness. The thick gravy just compelled you to dip it up with the soft and fluffy bread. The portion of the chicken and potato chunks was decent for the price I would say. Bread + curry, the simplest combination but tasty enough to evoke a sigh of satisfaction.
Sam 1st try on “adult version” curry and it got seal of approval from her! The curry was mild in spiciness even Sam with low tolerance for spicy food can enjoy it happily.
Ba Wang Mien (RM 10.60 – Small)
This noodle dish may looks unpretentious but it surprisingly not bad at all. The mien xian (I assume) was nicely cooked with slightly crunchy texture, submerged in the flavorful thick broth studded with ham, prawns and carrot.
Curry chicken bun in beautiful shiny golden hue for take away customers.
Verdict: No hesitation in recommending this if you’re in the vicinity.
