Ming Teppanyaki 銘門铁板烧料理 @ SS2, P.J
I rejoiced over the opening of Ming Teppanyaki’s second outlet at my neighbourhood, Bandar Menjalara, Kepong to be exact.
I was at their SS2 outlet last month for lunch. Since the restaurant just started operating, thus the dining area was rather vacant but filled up quickly 20 minutes later. Customers were pouring in the entire time we were there too.
The restaurant adopted a simple interior with greyish cement wall and concrete blocks wall. There were seating cramped within the long narrow dining area and part of the space was occupied by the open kitchen and beverage counter.
Their menu comprised rice and noodles dishes with different sauces (namely truffle, black pepper, tomato and Japanese curry) and mains (pork, chicken, fish or prawns), served on cast iron sizzling plate. There were hot pot dishes and some ala carte dishes (grilled corn, stir fried cabbage, Mapo Tofu, Three Cup Chicken, Okonomiyaki and etc) as well. Rice and noodles dishes priced from RM11.90 to RM20.90 and other dishes priced from RM8.90 to RM15.30. The drinks menu was rather interesting with assorted fruit teas, flower teas and soda mocktails, very affordably priced from RM2.90 to RM9.90.
Teppan Pork (RM13.60)
Teppan Chicken (RM11.90)
Both dishes came with a beautiful sunny side up and bean sprouts topped with delicious crispy fried garlic, served on cast iron plate. Both grilled pork belly and boneless chicken leg were well marinated with satisfying flavour that went well with rice.
Rice (RM2.50)
The above ala carte dishes didn’t came with rice or noodles and these were the add-on rice which were quite big in portion.
Pork Ribs Soup (RM11.50) + Shrimp Wonton (RM5.90) + Egg (RM1.20)
There are two options of soup base – pork ribs and hot and sour. The soup base came with Chinese Cabbage, tomatoes, corn, enoki mushrooms and bean curd sheet. The add-on egg and Wonton were added into the soup when being served.
The broth was light tasting but quite comforting and delicate with “home-cooked quality”.
True to its name, the shrimp Wontons were plump in size and contained a whole fresh prawn in it.
Verdict: This definitely a good find for budget friendly restaurant and it’s nearer to me now! (✯◡✯)

I’ve always loved teppanyaki as I feel the dish is a complete meal in itself with rice, meat & veggies + this one comes with a sunny side-up egg as well (even more complete…hehe). The meats here looks very well grilled….and yay to finally having an option for teppan pork! 😉 You’re so lucky that a good one has opened up in your neighbourhood….as I’ve always said before, I wish one would open in mine (and I’d be a regular). ^_~
Kris, haha ya, not many places have Teppan pork, usually Teppanyaki restaurants are not serving pork. I’ll find chance to visit the Kepong branch but new eatery always very popular here. >_<
