The Ibérico pig, one of the rarest breeds found only in Spain is shrouded in both mystery and astonishment. Being the original swine of Spain, it is treated as a unique national treasure, tamed over the centuries with its lineage reaching back to the time of the cavemen.


It is said that from the humble acorn grows the mighty Ibérico. The pig loves acorns and this special diet generates a remarkably high percentage of mono-unsaturated fats in their meat. One of the distinctive traits of this breed is its ability to store fats in muscle tissues, bringing about an unmistakable flavour and remarkably tender texture. To ensure an evenly distributed marbling, it is carefully bred with its diet strictly taken care of. Its meat breaks down into unsaturated fats high in oleic acid (usually found in olive oil), giving way to the Spanish saying “an Ibérico pig is like an olive tree with four legs”.

Ok, enough of story telling and wonder why I’m talking so much about the Ibérico pig? Lucky for Malaysians, the pig has moved out of its comfort zone and journeyed all the way from Spain to Malaysia. Now foodies are able to have a taste bite of the finest hog in the world at Morganfield’s, under their latest menu.

Morganfield’s, an American casual dining restaurant carrying a touch of rustic European flair. Famous for its signature Sticky Bones which is a truly authentic, old-fashioned prime pork rib slow-cooked and smoked in coal and hickory wood to a tender mouthwatering perfection, then basted with the gluey sweet and tangy hickory flavored barbeque sauce with a hint of cider.

Morganfield’s @ eCurve, Mutiara Damansara, a rustic and cozy wooden themed setting. Featured a double storey dining areas with both indoor and al fresco seats, the native American characteristic style mix and match furniture, posters and ornament give outlets a rustic, retro, raw albeit elegant look.

The extensive beverages menu consist of beers, wines, cocktails, coffees, soft drinks, chilled and blended coolers and liquors.

Kick started the meal with this beautiful crafted fried breaded onion, served with barbecue mayonnaise dipping. It was light, crispy and non-oily, best to be munched on while waiting for the mains.

Jack Daniel’s Glazed Iberico Baby Back (RM 49.90++)
Known as the king of all glazes, Jack Daniels Glazed Ibérico Baby Back is an award-winning recipe that will keep you hooked in an instant. The baby ribs are brilliantly cured with aromatic ingredients and finely smothered in exceptionally rich flavours along with a side of crispy onions rings and coleslaw.The ribs was totally bowled me over with its achingly tender texture and great flavors, sharing is definitely not recommended, hehe 😛

Jim Beam BBQ Iberico Baby Back (RM 49.90)

Equally good was this Jim Beam BBQ Iberico Baby Back, beautifully grilled and glazed with palatable Jim Beam BBQ sauce with hints of sweetness that adds the overall flavorsome.

Beef Ribs (RM 54.90++)

Not only pork ribs, Morganfield’s menu also offers more than 50 other lip-smacking dishes which included poultry, seafood and beef. The beef ribs were slow cooked then grilled with slathered of hickory BBQ sauce, it was tender but still had a good bite in the meat.

Lamb Rack Ribs (RM 54.90++)

The lamb rack ribs were prepared just like the beef ribs and basted with choice of sauces such as Hickory BBQ, Garlicky BBQ, Smoked Peppercorn, Spicy Asian BBQ and plain served with mint sauce. This most probably the least favourite of mine that evening as the gamey taste of the lamb was a tad too overwhelming for me.

Sharing is caring! Here at Morganfield’s , the Sharing Platters definitely one of the must order if you are in a big group of 3 persons and above .It is undeniable instagram-worthy (or whatever social media) for its gargantuan potion. You’d get 3 half slab of BBQ spare ribs with a choice of 4 flavors (Hickory BBQ, Garlicky BBQ, Smoked Peppercorn, Spicy Asian BBQ), 3 types of Morganfield’s signature homemade sausages, grilled corn, garden salad, corn muffin, and fries.

Garlicky BBQ

Coated with tangy, sweet and spicy sauce and heavenly perfumed with garlic which literally blow your mind and vampires away! LOL

Hickory BBQ

Grilled and basted with Hickory BBQ sauce is enough to leave you craving for more, I must admit it wasn’t as good as those aforementioned Iberico ribs but decent nonetheless.

Spicy Asian BBQ

For those who fancy a taste of spice, the Spicy Asian BBQ Spare Ribs is a league of its own as the ribs are smoked with signature BBQ sauce mixed with Asian spices and chili flakes.

Corn muffin was surprisingly good too but I was too stuffed to finish the whole thing and I think I should had them take away home for my tomorrow’s breakfast. >_<

Rest assured, you’d definitely left Morganfield’s with satisfactory~~

 

Verdict: This was my virgin visit to Morganfield’s and become my favorite rib’s place unquestionable especially the toothsome Iberico ribs.
