Poppy Kat @ Taman Taynton View, Cheras
This visit was specially planned for the cat lover in my family, to reduce her stress for the coming exam weeks. To be honest, I’m not an animal person and will feel anxious when they come close to me. If I have to choose between a dog cafe and a cat cafe, the later would be my absolute choice because cats are less aggressive and affectionate if compared with dogs and they are calmer. (^_^;)
Poppy Kat is a second floor cafe located at Taman Taynton View in Cheras. It is a rather popular (judging from the crowd on the day we visited) pet friendly brunch spot which is known for its adorable resident cats.
Cats are lounging and playing around freely at this Bohemian style cafe which is sectioned into three ares. The vibrant orange flooring with matching concrete bench and assorted cat toys at the lobby area. One of the dining space is dressed in orangey tone, from the ceiling to the wall, furnished with a curvy communal table and decorated with plenty of cat related framed artworks. The other side of the dining area is themed a softer coral tone with skylight that allow sufficient sunlight to bask the place. In keeping with the laid-back vibe, pots of leafy greens are placed around the cafe. Hygiene level was satisfying as I didn’t detect any unpleasant odour when I was there.
The cozy cafe houses a clowder of furry pals (adult cats and kittens) at this café for visitors to interact with. With a mix of different breeds and personalities, it’s a great place for kitty lovers to admire their beauty and bask in their presence.
The menu wasn’t exceptionally extensive, with burgers and croffles (a hybrid of a croissant and waffle) took centre stage and small selection of salads. There were delectable range of cakes, tarts and sweet croffles to satisfy your sweet tooth. They also offer simple meal and snacks for your fluffy fur babies if they’re tagging along.
Big Breakkie (RM35.00)
Apart from the usual eggs (sunny side up/scrambled), turkey ham, grilled tomato, cheese sausage, sauteed swiss brown mushrooms and house salad, I’m happy to see their special house made items such as pumpkin croquette and croffle (served with strawberry jam).
Jalepeno Turkey Ham (RM28.00)
It’s two sets of crisp and flaky croffle topped with turkey ham, sliced tomatoes, melted Mozzarella & cheddar cheese, and Jalepeno puree sauce. The combination of various ingredients gave it a multitude of flavours with sufficient of creaminess that stimulated my palate. It also served with salad and two sunny side up.
Mentaiko Fried Chicky Burger (RM32.00)
Served with a side of curly fries, the burger was layered with juicy and well flavoured fried chicken chop, torched mentaiko mayo, yuzu coulis (as per stated in the menu but we hardly tasted it), sliced cheese, tobiko, sliced tomatoes and greens, sandwiched in between two soft brioche buns.
Haha, please forgive my uneasy face expression. >_<
Verdict: With no expectation on the food at such pet cafe, the food we had was above average and it was a gratifying dining experience at Poppy Kat. This place certainly a pawsome cat café to be visited when you are in need of some cat therapy!

hah..hah…the cats are so cute and some even wear baju! I would be happy there and I think so will Kris 🙂 Though I must say that the food does not look so appealing to me except for the burger. The Big Brekkie seems a bit too thin for me.
So Sam is the kitty fan and I take it that she cannot have a pet because mummy is uneasy with cats? My late grandmother was terrified of cats. She had a cat phobia. My mum told me once upon a time my late grandfather brought home a very cute Siamese kitten and grandma locked herself in the toilet. She refused to come out until the kitten was removed from the house! Well, just as well my three cats were not around when my grandma visited many years ago.
PH, I can’t say I have a cat phobia as I still can pet them, just that I’m very sensitive with smell/odour, so pet is not allowed in my house. >_<
Like PH, I would be happy there too. I just wish they didn’t put clothes of the kitties…I really hate that. They’re most cute when left in their au naturale state lah…lol! I’d consider the prices of the brekkies a bit on the high side since most of the igredients are commercially prepared stuff. At RM35, can even match some of those prepared by higher end cafes. P/S: If you didn’t tell me that was a housemade pumpkin croquette, I would have thought it was a hash brown…hah..hah.
Kris, pet lovers nowadays like to let their furry kid wear assorted of clothing and accessories, LOL.
For the big breakfast, I think the price is pretty standard for cafes or restaurant , at least we got housemade pumpkin croquette and croffle. ^__^
I am surprised there’s a cat cafe in that area. While I do love cats, I think I would prefer not to eat there. Just a drink and cuddle the cats cukup lah.
Like Kris, I feel that cats should not wear clothes at all. Why start copying the overseas trends to dress their dogs and cats with matching shoes and even hats?
TM, I can accept clothes for the pets but shoes…… really weird for me lor….. >_<
Oh my those baju for the kittiessss
KY, so you’re not agree to let the kitties wear clothes too?
