Restoran Selayang Chicken Rice Shop @ Taman Selayang Jaya
It has been four months since we last had chicken rice and unfortunately it was a dismal experience. However, that was only my personal experience because my friend visited the same restaurant after me and she likes the food, so check it out yourself and let me know what do you think in my post.
I came across Restoran Selayang Chicken Rice Shop from XHS and since the location isn’t too far, it didn’t take long for us to pay it a visit. The restaurant is a typical no-fuss, no frills Kopitiam setting with many ceiling and wall fans provide a moderate comfort level for dine-in. Parking can be slightly challenging at this area, so be patient.
The offerings here is simple and straightforward – poached broiler chicken or farmed chicken (with innards also), served with rice or Kuey Teow soup and side dishes of fish/meat balls and blanched bean sprouts.
Oil Rice (Small – RM1.50)
Fluffy and well infused with chicken essence, ginger, lemongrass and other ingredients.
Kuey Teow Soup (Small – RM3.50)
Slippery smooth and soft Kuey Teow served in mild flavoured chicken broth.
Half Chicken (RM35.00)
The chicken was adequately soft as expected for farmed chicken yet had a good bite in texture. It wasn’t overly fatty as well, drenched in a rather average soy sauce oil dressing.
Bean Sprouts (RM5.00)
Plump and juicy bean sprouts, we had no complaint on this. 🙂
Verdict: Affordable meal and the food was very decent by most measures, it’s another addition to my list of chicken rice restaurant.
