Restoran Tropikiri & Restoran Sun Yin Loong @ P.J

The Kopitiam Makan Makan mission continue….

We went to two different Kopitiams in P.J area that morning, as usual…..                 (⑉• •⑉)♡

This Prawn Mee vendor is a popular stall inside Restoran Tropikiri that located in Taman Bukit Mayang Emas, P.J. Manned by a middle aged man, another Penang delicacy – Koay Teow Th’ng is also available here.

Penang Prawn Mee (Small – RM8.00)

Arrived with all the trappings needed for a bowl of Prawn Mee – sliced prawns, pork slices, kangkung, bean sprouts, half a boiled egg and fried shallots, submerged in a broth in bright orange sheen. The broth had a robust prawny taste as it should be. It was ravishingly flavourful with the right balance of sweetness and savouriness from the boiling of prawn shells and heads.

Dry Wonton Mee (Small – RM8.00)

After a few minutes of observation, we found that Wonton Mee was another well loved food at this Kopitiam. We tried and it turned out to be rather delightful in terms of texture and flavours.

Verdict: I knew that the Penang Koay Teow Th’ng is noteworthy as well, which is a good excuse to come back again.

Restoran Tropikiri

2, Jalan BM 1/2, Taman Bukit Mayang Emas, 47301 Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

Operating hours: Thurs – Tues: 6.00am to 3.00pm, close on Wednesday

Of course our appetite wouldn’t be satisfied by just a bowl of noodle (each). So we drove to the nearby neighbourhood of Sunway Mas (Aman Suria), to be precise Restoran Sun Yin Loong, the outpost of the famous Kedai Kopi Sin Yoon Loong in Ipoh.

Iced Ipoh White Coffee

The drink that hubby had at previous Kopitiam was slightly disappointing but luckily this Ipoh White Coffee cured the disappointment.

Siew Yoke Curry Mee (Small – RM9.00)

This Ipoh Curry Mee was more than decent with the distinctive predominant taste of curry powder and spices. It was fragrant and thick but lacked of that creamy taste of Santan (coconut milk).

Verdict: It was indeed a bustling place on weekends with both indoor and outdoor seating were fully occupied. The indoor was rather stuffy and hot, so the al-fresco seat would be a better choice if you’re planning to come here.
