Restoran Wan Shoon @ Damansara Kim, P.J
I already forgot from where I saw recommendation on Curry Mee at Restoran Wan Shoon, hence we were here for it on a Sunday morning. Like most of the Kopitiam, Restoran Wan Shoon was bustling and we sat on one of the few empty tables.
Curry Mee (RM9.00)
Thick and full of creaminess from the coconut milk, the curry broth was spicy and delicious. The noodle was topped essential ingredients of bean curd puffs that fully absorbed the curry broth, shredded chicken and some cockles.
Mee Jawa (RM11.50 – add fritter)
To be honest, we were enthralled by the presentation of this Mee Jawa when we were still thinking what to order. (˶′◡‵˶) This visually appealing bowl of Mee Jawa not only attractive to the eyes but also tantalized our taste buds. The noodle was served in a pool of dark orange thick gravy made from potato, sweet potato and tomato, topped with generous toasted crushed peanut, shredded lettuce and garnished with the “standing” cracker at side. The gravy had a good sweet-sour-savoury flavours came together perfectly. There were more ingredients hidden underneath- fish cakes, bean sprouts, sliced hard boiled egg, beancurd and potato chunks.
I’m not a fan of Mee Jawa because those I tried were overwhelmingly sweet which weren’t my preferential taste for noodle dish. This version at Restoran Wha Shoon is most likely the only Mee Jawa that got my approval, just like how KY replied me in his post – I have to find a good one!
Verdict: Another good find to be added to my to-revisit list as I heard that the Prawn Mee from the Mee Jawa stall is equally good. (ゝ∀・)v

I have eaten the curry mee here some years back after my partner said it is better than Annie1 (which I didn’t think so at the time). I don’t know how I would feel about it now. The last time I had Annie1’s curry mee I did not think it was as good as before. Perhaps one day I will allow myself to taste this Damansara Kim curry mee again and also the mee jawa hah..hah…
PH, I don’t think I tried Annie 1 curry mee, so no comparison. 😛
For me, a good bowl of curry laksa must either have char siew or chicken…and this had neither (shredded chicken doesn’t count…lol). The mee jawa definitely looks like a better bet (it has a much orange-coloured sweet potato broth than I know…perhaps more tomato paste?). So far, I can only think of a good one I had in SS2 but I’ve never seen a mee jawa topped with so much crushed peanuts before…and that cracker also looks like crispy perfection! 😉
Kris, good curry laksa must have cockles, no? If the curry mee here doesn’t attract you, the Mee Jawa is something you really have to try!
