Shabutori @ Puncak Sentul, K.L
Located in Sentul, a less recognized suburb of Kuala Lumpur, Shabutori is a buffet style restaurant specializes in hot pot and Kushiyaki. I was there last month for my usual family gathering when brother came back from Singapore.
The dining area. Actually there were a few more tables on the right side of the buffet counter which I didn’t snap photo of it. My family of 15 persons were seated on 3 different tables (side by side) as their tables couldn’t be moved to combine. =.=”
The buffet packages and the prices. Since mom and brother in law don’t take beef, we took Package B.
The sauce counter with assorted sauces and condiments, included Ponzu Sauce, Sambal Belacan (quite salty), Sweet Sauce, Garlic Sesame Sauce, Garlic Chili Sauce, Soy Sauce, Spicy Dipping Sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, minced radish, chopped spring onions, chopped bird eye chilies and chopped Chinese parsley.
Buffet counter with variety of vegetables, meat balls, mushrooms, noodles, fried rice, bean curd sheets, bean curd rolls, eggs and small selection of seafood (bamboo clams, clams aka Lala and squid).
The beverage station.
Gelato
We had Tonkotsu and Karamiso soup base, other choices included Dashi and Sukiyaki. Both were just decent, the Tonkotsu wasn’t particularly pronounced in flavour and the Karamiso with mild spiciness was nothing to shout about but I could live with it.
The meat choices were limited to 3 types only – pork collar, pork belly and chicken slices.
The skewers took some times to arrive and the Yakitori was the best among them, with tender and well marinated chicken pieces.
Verdict: For the price charged, we expected more from the meat options. The buffet counter was less exciting as well, so I will say that it’s not one that I would come back again.

Sentul macam jauhhhhh, the value looks good tho!
Yeah, for the price to get only 3 meats is not value for money. My go-to all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ cost only RM29 and they give 5 meats! I love yakitori too for that smoky, grilled flavour they impart on meats and vegetables.
