Truffle Xiao Long Bao @ Din Tai Fung

Din Tai Fung (DTF) is always on top of my “must-eat” list but why until recently, I’ve yet to patronise it? Long queue seems to be a certainty at DTF @ The Gardens even before the opening hours >.< That was the reason as I don’t like to queue!

That was until I got an invitation from Ken to try out DTF menu at newly refurbished outlet at The Gardens. I think God do hear me πŸ™‚

Open kitchen!! We can see the busy kitchen from the outside of the restaurant.

Simple wooden tables & chairs but the restaurant are quite cramped.

The menu, featuring the signature Xiao Long Bao.

DTF offer a delectable range of Shanghainese appetizers to tempt your taste bud & we choose a few of their signature.

House Special Appetizer -ζ‹›η‰Œε°θœ (RM 3.80)
Consisted of julienned seaweed, spring onion, dried beancurd, chili & vermicelli.

Spicy Jelly Fish – ζ΅·θœ‡δΈ (RM 7.00)

Deep fried pumpkins coated with salted egg were moreish, finished in a jiffy!

Stewed Beancurd with Honey Sauce – 烀麸 (RM 7.00)
They might look like tofu puff but its a totally different texture when you bite into it. The texture is akin bread & made from imported gluten (青筋) from Shanghai~ soft & honey sauce is well absorbed.

Shanghainese Drunken Chicken – δΈŠζ΅·ι†‰ιΈ‘ (RM 12.80)
A whole kampung chicken drumstick cooked with rice wine & served cold. The meat was tender with robust bitter taste of the rice wine.

Chicken Xiao Long Bao – ιΈ‘θ‚‰ε°η¬ΌεŒ… (RM 9.80 / 6pcs)
Just like all DTF Xiao Long Bao, it has standard 18 folds, translucent skin & pipping hot broth, tantalizing~~

Ginger & vinegar dipping for Xiao Long Bao.

Yes, you are not hallucinating, it’s truffle!! I can’t believe I can taste truffle in such an affordable price!!! The translucent skin encasing the warm savory broth moistening the patty of mind pork & luxury truffle within~ What are you waiting for? Come & have the most expensive fungus (black & white truffle) here at DTF without burning a hole in your pocket!

Shrimp & Pork Fried Rice – 虾仁肉丝蛋炒ι₯ (RM 15.00)
Seriously, this is the tastiest fried rice I ever had!!! Fluffy & flavorsome and didn’t oily at all!!! Not to mention the plump & juicy prawns , every mouthful is a treasure~

Although we were quite stuffed but we still have some room for the desserts πŸ™‚
