Wú Cafe @ Kota Damansara

It was a rare occasion where hubby brought us to try a new eatery. ◔_◔

Wú Cafe is located on the second floor of one of the shoplot in Dataran Sunway, the bustling commercial area in Kota Damansara.

The cafe adopted an artsy industrial design with cement and exposed bricks walls, mottled concrete flooring, quirky disco ball decor and minimalist light installations. A row of leafy tropical greens add liveliness to the cool raw interior.

There’s a clothing store nestled inside the cafe but it was closed during our visit.

The menu featured a list of Japanese inspired Ramen, Mazesoba (dry Ramen) and Donburi. Sides like Gyoza (RM14), Tori Karaage (RM15), Chili Oil Dumpling (RM15), as well as dessert in form of cake roll in assorted flavours and burnt cheese cakes (RM13-18) were available too. Wide selection of beverages such as Kombucha, teas, coffees, barista’s special curation and even cocktails dominated the drink menu.

Soboro Don (RM19.00)

Rice bowl topped with braised minced pork, shredded nori and Ajitsuke Tamago (Ramen egg), a safe bet for those seeking a simple and fulfilling meal.

Other Donburi options available are Yasai Koroke Curry Rice, Chashu Don, Tori Nanban Don, Salmon Teriyaki Don, Ebi Katsu Soboro Don and etc, price from RM17-25.

Chashu Black Miso Ramen (RM21.00)

Choices of Ramen were simple and limited – Ebi Katsu or Chashu Ramen in either Shoyu, Black Miso or Aka Spicy soup, price from RM21-23.

Hubby had his usual favourite order of black garlic flavoured soup Ramen. The Ramen came with two large pieces of tender pork belly (although it’s rather thin), accompanied by Ramen egg, sliced big scallion, shredded Nori and chopped spring onion. The distinctive black broth was adequately thick and flavourful with a mild garlicky note. The noodle was well prepared with an enjoyable al-dente texture.

Chashu Mazesoba (RM22.00 + chili RM1.00 )

My first Mazesoba experience at Menya Hanabi was a pleasant one and the Wú’s version was just as good if not better. My vibrant bowl of Mazesoba was crowned with Chashu, raw egg yolk, minced meat, chopped spring onion, shredded Nori, and a dollop of chili sauce.

Thinner noodles was used here, the sauce and flavour could cling well on it. The overall taste was rich and savoury, with the heat from the chili sauce that seal the deal for a satisfying meal.

Verdict: Food was above average with rather reasonable price tag. Revisit? Yes, if I happen to be at the territory.

  • Look really good what you all had there. Kota Damansara is very near me but parking there is terrible! Worse than Uptown hah..hah… I have tried Mazesoba but not really liking it that much. I prefer ramen soup.

  • I’m not a very big fan of ramen but do eat it once in a long while coz I find some tonkotsu broth a bit too robust in flavour for me. I prefer lighter tasting soup bases. I’ve not had mazesoba before.
