Yen Can Cook ~ Pear, Snow Fungus & Peach Gum Dessert

Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) Day 4, How’s everyone? 


It’s a very hard time for everyone included myself as my company was closed for 2 weeks and there will be salary deduction too. The same thing was happened during the last MCO1.0 which my pay was cut for a few months. 

But anyway life must go on, right? 

Today I’m going to share a quick and easy Tong Sui (Chinese dessert soup) cooked with snow pear, snow fungus and peach gum. The dessert has strengthening and beauty-boosting properties which is suitable for the whole family.

 

Ingredients (Serve: 3-4)

20g peach gum (can be purchased from Chinese medicine shop)

2 snow pears, peeled & cut into wedges 

15g snow fungus/white fungus

8 – 10 red dates, clean and pitted

10g dried longan

60g rock sugar or to taste

1500ml water

Step 1: Soak peach gum in clean water for overnight until soften. Pick and remove the dirt and impurities.

Step 2: Soak snow fungus in water until soft. Rinse and cut into smaller pieces. Set aside.

Step 3: In a pot, bring the water to boil, add in snow pear, snow fungus (Step 2), red dates and dried longan.

Step 4:  Turn to low heat and continue to cook for 20 to 25 minutes. Add in peach gum and cook for another 10 minutes then add rock sugar to taste.

Step 4: Serve hot or chilled.
