Yen Can Cook ~ Stir Fried Garlic Scapes with Pork

Hi hi, everybody! Chinese New Year (CNY) is just around the corner and all those who are celebrating must be very busy doing spring cleaning and last minutes preparations to welcome the year of Snake. I’ve done with most of my tasks in my list, except my bathroom repainting which I need to complete before I do my manicure on this coming Friday. (✿◠‿◠)  I will be taking time off for all my household chores after Friday, yay!       \(^o^)/

Ok, back to today’s post, a simple and versatile vegetable stir fry recipe which works well with most of the vegetables, if you cannot get garlic scape that I used here. Do try out this recipe with broccoli, sweet peas, Choy Sum, celery and long bean, just to name a few.

Ingredients (Serve: 3-4)

300g – 350g pork, cut into strips (any cut of your preference)

400g-500g garlic scapes,  cut into 2-3 inch sections

1/4 thumb-sized ginger, sliced

2 tablespoons water

Cooking oil

Salt to taste

Marinade

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1/2 teaspoon pepper

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1/3 teaspoon corn starch

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 1: In a bowl combine all marinade ingredients then marinate pork for at least 10 minutes.
Step 2: Heat up cooking oil in wok, saute ginger till slightly browned and fragrant. Add in pork slivers (Step 1), stir fry until the meat changed colour.
Step 3: Add in garlic scapes and continue stir fry for a minute. Add water and let cook for another 1-2 minutes. Season with salt if desired.
Step 4: Turn heat off and serve.
HAPPY COOKING!  #stayhealthy #staysafe
