Xiao Bar Wang @ 1 Utama

Stumbled upon Xiao Bar Wang when we need a simple quick lunch at 1 Utama. A little restaurant that serve Taiwanese street food, owned by a few Malaysian & Singaporean artists. Nestled at the pretty competitive culinary cocoon of 1 Utama (Lower Ground Floor to be precise), their business was quite good considering majority tables were occupied when my visit.

Simple wooden tables & stools in a barely decorated dining area and there are also seats at the pathway outside the restaurant.

Simple (aka limited) choices on their menu 😛
We opted for set meal which included a mains + beverage with very affordable price.

Mee Sua + Drink (RM 7.90)
Mee Sua, the renowned Taiwanese street food was decent with well seasoned gravy and appropriate consistency, not too thick nor watery. The only grouch was I prefer oyster in my mee sua instead of meat ball, there is nothing’s wrong with the meat balls given, just that I prefer the original oyster mee sua ^__* Ask for a chili sauce for extra kick!

Bento Rice + Drink (RM 12.90)
Served in a plastic bento “box”, the set consisted of a sizable fried pork chop on a bed of white rice, pickled vegetables, braised potato, blanched vegetables and a halved braised egg.

The fried pork chop had crispy skin of black pepper infused batter however the meat was a tad too dry. I enjoyed the spicy pickled vegetable which really appetizing and went well with the rice 🙂

Beverages for the set meal and there are 3 choice available such as Black Sugar Milk Tea, Rosselle Flower Tea and Black Sugar Sugar Lime.
Verdict: Decent Taiwanese street food offering with affordable price but the choices are a bit limited. Will revisit when I need a quick fix 🙂

We really have “no time” to try new eatery, don’t we? =.=”
I also prefer oyster mee sua :-p
We already used to the combination 😛
Hmm…didn’t really enjoy the meal here. I ll prefer to go Shilin for their mee sua.
I agreed Shilin mee suah is better, because they pair it with oyster 😛
Would love to taste the noodle.
Hope you enjoy it!
I oso prefer mee suah with oyster!
Maybe we just used to the combination?
