Valentine’s Day 2013 @ Fu-Rin Japanese Restaurant, Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie
While you guys are celebrating Chinese New Year, don’t forget that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner too which falls on the 5th day of Lunar New Year. (Yes, it’s only 4 more days!) So how’s your planning to celebrate this special day with your love one? Ever think of go for a Japanese candlelight dinner instead of the common Western food?
Fu-Rin Japanese Restaurant located at Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie was tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The beautifully designed restaurant with a Japanese Garden exuded a sense of Zen and the interior itself echoed a serene aura.
The restaurant was spacious with a few private rooms for those who need more privacy. Some Japanese ornaments sparingly adorned the place.
The awards won by Fu-Rin being displayed in the restaurant too.
Around the World (Zensai)
We embarked on a lovely culinary experience with the Japanese appetizer (Zensai).
A medley of three pieces of appetizer; Tatami Iwashi, prawn in two types of sauce and chilled scallops.
Place on top of a cucumber cylinder, the prawn was dressed in two types of sauces featuring sweet, fruity and savory with subtle hint of spiciness. Also accompanied was a crispy Tatami Iwashi made from dried baby anchovies held together to form a cracker piece.
Sat diagonally was chilled marinated scallop lay on a slice orange. The scallop was in light briny flavor and I like how the alfalfa added a refreshing touch to the seafood.
Falling in Love with You (Sliced Sashimi Carpacio)
Featuring salmon, white tuna and yellowtail.
True to its name, I was totally fell in love after I have my first bite of the fresh fish. Not only adorable to the eyes, the carpacio tasted amazingly good with various toppings of crunchy tempura flakes, fried leeks, fish roes, crushed pink peppercorn and dressed in an fragrant basil sauce.
True Love from a Heart ( Nameko Aka-dashi)
The red miso soup was dense in flavor and filled with wakame, bean curd and Shimeji mushrooms. A simple comfort food that sooth your soul and tummy.
A Love Between You & Me (Grilled Salmon with Teriyaki Sauce)
Endless Love (Green Tea Ice Cream with Azuki Beans)
To round up the lovely thematic dinner, we had the classic Green Tea Ice Cream with Azuki Beans.
