Mān Mān Cafe @ Bandar Menjalara, Kepong

Bandar Menjalara at Kepong is my family’s weekend canteen because we come here almost every weekend for our favourite Chinese Dai Chow restaurant which we have been frequenting for more than 10 years. Of course we tried other eateries as well because there are wide selection of food choices available in this commercial area such as Kopitiam, hotpot (more than 5 restaurants), bar restaurant (Uncle Don’s), cafe, Chinese food (Dai Chow, Dim Sum, Yong Tau Foo, Bak Kut Teh, vegetarian food, economy rice, roasted meat, etc), Taiwanese food (Taiwan Braised Pork Rice), Nyonya food, Thai food, Japanese (Ramen),and Korean (bbq).

Opened since 2017, Mān Mān Cafe is one of the cafes that able to hold its own among the fierce competition in this area. The cafe adopted a minimalist white theme with a small tree being planted at the semi circular cement bench, which added a pleasant touch to the space.

Their menu offered a nice range of food such as starter (salad, garlic bread, chicken popcorn, soup and fries – RM6 to RM18), good selection of burgers (RM17 to RM28), Don (RM18 to RM32) and pastas (RM17 to RM26). Other food such as chicken chop, sandwiches, salmon, big breakfast and waffles are priced from RM17 to RM29.

The beverages list was rather limited with choices of espresso based drinks, matcha drinks (using Niko Neko brand) and chocolate.

Iced Latte (RM12.00)

Beauty & The Beast Burger (RM26.00)

It’s a tall stack of Australian beef patty, fried chicken, bacon, tomato slices, lettuce and melted cheese dressed in housemade sauce, sandwiched between the soft bun. The pipping hot fried chicken thigh was toothsome with its crispy skin yielding to succulent flesh. The beef patty on the other hand was rather mediocre in terms of flavour, but I’m glad that it wasn’t overcooked, with its tenderness retained. The bacon amped up the overall flavour of the burger.

Tomato Salmon (RM26.00)

The dish came with a persuasive portion of big slab of Salmon steak sitting gloriously on the pasta. The spaghetti was coated with a luscious and creamy tomato sauce and the Salmon was well executed with crispy skin and tender flesh.

Mushroom Soup (RM8.00)

The mushroom soup was just decent, it did not register in my mind after the dinner.

♥Verdict: Overall, it was a fairly good dinner session, with two out of three of our food belong to the category of ‘I won’t regret ordering’ and the service was friendly too.
