Restoran Taiwan Braised Pork Rice & Dessert @ Fortune Avenue, Taman Usahawan Kepong

I tried their food several times via food delivery, this proves that their food suit my taste bud.

My family has been resuming our weekend dine out since dine-in at restaurants is allowed under National Recovery Plan Phase 3. On last Sunday, we were loitering around commercial area of Taman Usahawan Kepong which houses a few residential properties, as well as many kopitiam and eateries. Traffic here can be quite congested sometimes due to double parking and getting parking at this area can be slightly challenging.

Spacious and airy dining area, furnished with not-so-comfortable wooden tables, stools and benches ( ̄ω ̄;). Noting much on decoration with several enticing looking photos of their signature dishes on the wall.

The menu is pretty simple with five main categories including rice, noodles, snacks, desserts and beverages. Rice and noodles dishes with price ranging from RM9.50-RM13.90 with options of different toppings namely braised pork, braised pork knuckle, Taiwanese salt and pepper chicken, fried pork/chicken chop and pork patty. Snacks are mostly fried food such as Fried Abalone Mushrooms(RM8.90), Spicy Crispy Eggplant (RM8.90), Crispy Sweet Potato (RM8.90), Salted & Pepper Cuttlefish tentacles (RM13.90) and a few more.

Crispy Pork Steak Rice (RM10.90)

It’s a substantial portion with a huge slab of battered fried pork chop topped on the rice, together with side dishes of pickled vegetables, braised bean curd and egg. The pork chop was thinly battered with sprinkles of chili powder, crispy on the outer and tender on the inside.  The rice was doused with savoury minced meat sauce, it’s certainly a rice bowl that scored well in terms of flavours and texture.

Taiwan Minced Pork Rice (RM9.90)

All rice bowl is served with same sides of pickled vegetables, braised bean curd and egg. Sam opted for the simplest minced meat rice, which generously crowned with moreish braised minced meat. It poised a comforting balance between savoury and sweet, indeed a great pairing with rice.

Taiwan Croquette Rice (RM10.90)

My pork patty rice was equally tantalizing. The thick and juicy pork patty was tasty with bursting flavour, some might find it a little bit on salty side, but I’m totally okay with it to be paired with rice.

♥Verdict: Good portion, good food and prices are fair, making Restoran Taiwan Braised Pork Rice & Dessert a nice example of a worthwhile neighbourhood restaurant. However, the service definitely need improvement. I had their Aiyu Jelly shaved ice dessert (takeaway) and I like it but I was too full to get a bowl this round, next time perhaps. ╥﹏╥
