I Cook: Luo Han Guo Herbal Tea

To battle the unbearably scorching weather recently, I’ve prepared this Luo Han Guo herbal tea for my family to eliminate the body heat and this also can heal cough/sore throat.


Ingredients:

2 Luo han guo (Must crack open the fruit so that the sweetness can release into the soup)

2 -3 Honey dates (蜜枣)

A handful of dried longan

2 litre of water

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Step 1: Boil the water in a pot then add in all the ingredients.

Step 2: Simmer for 20 – 30 minutes. Serve hot or chilled.

Tips: No extra sugar is added because the herbal tea is mildly sweet from the natural sweetness of the Luo Han Guo. If you really need a sweeter version, rock sugar or winter melon sugar strips can be added 10 minutes before you off the fire.
