Kochabi (KCB) ~ Malaysian Traditional Ice-Cream
Ding Dong…. Special delivery from Penang!
To be precise, a special frozen parcel at -18ºC sent by low-temperature controlled truck to my door step from Penang. Curious to know what’s in the carton? As shown on the carton, it was Kochabi (KCB) 古早味 Malaysian Traditional Ice-Cream.
About Kochabi (KCB) 古早味
Established in 2002, “Kochabi 古早味” literally means traditional taste from old times in Chinese which fully flashed on their production of ice-cream. Utilizing age-old traditional recipe passed down from generation to generation for the manufacturing of authentic Malaysian Ice Cream which widely known as ” Ice Cream Potong “.
Kochabi ice cream is using coconut milk as the base, rendering a new twist in texture and taste for all their range of products. The taste of this delectable Malaysian dessert has been meticulously preserved through detailed attention paid to various steps in the production.
The Ice-Cream Potong
All made from natural ingredients without preservative.
Flavors available: Durian, Cempedak, Red Bean, Yam, Nutmeg, Strawberry, Vanilla + Oreo, Mint, Green Bean and Corn.
Verdict: The texture is more creamy if compare with the traditional ice-cream potong, the taste is denser too. The only gripe is it melt pretty fast too.
Gelato Bars
Made from skimmed milk, coconut milk, sugar, egg yolks and natural fruit.

Flavors available: Durian, Cempedak, Red Bean, Yam, Nutmeg and Vanilla + Oreo.
The gelato also available in 300g tub packing.
Verdict: Creamy and intense flavored.
Fruit Bar
Fat free, made with 100% real fruit juice and real fruit.
Flavors available: Pineapple, Kiwi, Lemon, Mango and Strawberry
Verdict: My favourite among all three types. The texture is light and refreshing with real fruit bits.
Seal of approval from Sam!
