Jal Dae Ji @ Plaza Arkadia, Desa Park City

This was a “mini reunion dinner” for three of us which I chose to had it a day before the “grand reunion lunch” with my mom, all my siblings and family. ヾ(^ ^ゞ

I was craving for Korean food and I remember my friend has been recommending me to try out Jal Dae Ji at Plaza Arkadia, Desa Park City. So I made reservation a day before the dinner and seem like it didn’t necessary because the restaurant was rather vacant throughout our dinner on that Sunday evening.

The restaurant adopted a soothing earthy theme with enticing food photos adorning the walls. The space is separated into two sections, the main dining area and the partly partitioned “semi private dining rooms”.

The “semi private rooms” were well separated by the roller blind and beautiful framed artworks of different themes decorating the walls.

Outdoor seating was available too if you enjoy people watching or being watched. ◑.◑

Familiar assorted BBQ meat and Korean dishes dominated the rather compact menu. They offered beef, pork, chicken and seafood for the BBQ, in single portion or combination of various meat cut for group of 3-4 or 4-5 persons. Wide variety of Korean dishes (such as spicy squid, Bulgogi, pancakes, fried chicken, Tteokbokki & etc), stews and hotpot (such as Kimchi soup, pork backbones hotpot, seafood stew, mussels soup, Ginseng Chicken & etc) which ensure that every patron can find a recipe to enjoy. The menu also featured ample options for soup, rice, noodle and dumpling dishes to boot.

The beverage menu consists alcohol drinks, canned juices and soft drinks. Of course you can skip them and enjoy the complimentary chilled drinking water. (*^^*)

The banchan (side dishes) selection wasn’t really impressive, do you agree?

Kimchi Soup with Tuna (RM25.00)

The soup came with options of tuna or pork and it was served with a bowl of rice.

Thick and pungent spicy broth laden bountifully with big chunks of flaky tuna, Kimchi, enoki mushrooms and mung bean noodles.

Minimum two portions of order for BBQ meat and we opted for the staff do the grilling for us. As you can see the dining area wasn’t equipped with retractable chimney or exhaust and we didn’t want to smell like BBQ meat after the meal. (T▽T)

Marinated Pork Spare Ribs (RM35.00 – 180g)

Marinated with the restaurant’s secret recipe over 40 years, this grilled meat was indeed deserved the merit. The meat was tender and delicious infused with flavourful marinade and perfectly grilled with a nice smoky char

Pork Jowl (RM35.00 – 180g)

If you’re one who prefer to have food in its original taste, meat without any marinade like this is for you. However I did not like this, not that anything was wrong with it. It was just me, I’m more into food with stronger flavour.

Korean Style Steamed Dumpling (RM25.00)

The dumplings were not too shabby but the flavour of the filling can be enhanced further.

You can purchase some back to enjoy at home if you like their Kimchi.

♥Verdict: I’m afraid Jal Dae Ji wouldn’t land a spot in my list of favourite Korean restaurant in my area, in terms of spread of Banchan and the overall taste of the food. But I like the comfortable and clean environment of the restaurant nonetheless.
