Restoran Pau Kee @ Jalan Imbi, K.L
Restoran Pau Kee has been on my radar for years since I knew it’s located just a stone’s throw away from my facial salon. Until recently hubby drove me to my facial appointment and I suggested that we should check out this place to tick off my to-try-list.
Indoor and outdoor seating are available here but seem like the latter is more popular. There are some road construction works going on nearby, so the parking can be a pain in the neck.
Simple menu with a few choices of noodles and side dishes.
Signature Ipoh Sar Ho Fun (RM8.00)
With a layer of that distinctive orangey prawn oil, this bowl of Gai Si Hor Fun (shredded chicken noodles) that came with the usual ingredients of shredded chicken, prawns and, Chinese chives definitely scored in terms of appearance.
The broth also hit the mark in the taste department as well. It was flavourful, intensely infused with sweetness of prawn essence from the prawn heads and shells. Although this one may not make it to my top ranking Gai Si Hor Fun (like THIS (no.1) and THIS (no.2) ^_^), but still a very commendable option.
Curry Egg Noodle (RM8.00)
There are option to have the curry noodles with either egg noodles (Wonton Mee) or the default Meehoon + yellow mee, we opted for the former. The Curry Mee was served with a rather simple ingredients of shredded chicken, prawns, bean curd puffs (good to soak up the curry broth) and the unusual blanched Choy Sum. The curry broth wasn’t too thick in consistency, quite fragrant with just the right amount of curry oil and adequate spiciness. The flavour was savoury with good dose of creaminess from the coconut milk.
Fresh Prawn Q Wonton (RM10.00)
Every Wonton was encased with a whole (small) prawn, together with the minced pork filling, it was sublime.
Verdict: It’s unquestionably a great place to assuage one’s yearning for a good bowl of Gai Si Hor Fun. Revisit? Why not? I can come here every month after my facial appointment, hehe. 😛

I’ve not been here for close to 10 years (I checked my post on them) and it’s good to see that the standards have been maintained. It’s certainly a decent kshf but after having tasted Guang Ji Ho Fun, it’s difficult to see them in the same light…but if you’re in the vicinity, why not! 😉 They use Hong Kong choy sum and since they use that with the wantan soup and wantan mee, I guess it makes sense to use it also in their curry as well. P/S: Next time maybe you might want to try their poached chicken (but don’t compare lah with the one in GJHF)….lol! 😀
Kris, actually I always visit Guang Ji after my facial, it’s located not to far away from here also. 😛
Wow!! The Gai Si Hor Fun looks delicious and very appetising for that price. I have bookmarked this place.
Parking is pain in the neck?? Maybe I should take monorail and walk a bit.
TM, take public transport to this area certainly a brilliant idea as the parking is not cheap and not easy to get free road side parking. >_<
