Previous Post: Tsui Wah Restaurant
“冰室” pronounced as Bing Sutt literally mean ice room/ice chamber is one of the important element in Hong Kong 50’s/60’s culture where people meet up for coffee break, tea and other beverages such as soda pop & ice cream.
With a collaborative effort between Starbucks and Hong Kong brand G.O.D (Goods of Desire), the Starbucks located at Duddell Street, Central jump out from the typical design and transformed into a Bing Sutt look a like place.
Located at Duddell Street in Central, this street is famous for its four gas-powered street lamps. While all other street lamps in Hong Kong are now electric, these street lamps are still powered by town gas. Duddell Street Steps and Gas Lamps are Declared monuments of Hong Kong.
A walk down memory lane~
The front part of the cafe is the typical Starbucks design and when go further in we was greeted by the interior which reminiscent 60’s Bing Sutt with countless interesting ornaments.
The Cha Chan Teng style menu plates on the walls.
The vintage posters.
An eye-candy for those who like vintage items~
The retro floor tiles, the wall outside the window of replica of high population density flat of Hong Kong and the humongous signboards.
Some funny signboards decorating the walls~
Wall of fame?
Discussing something? ~☆〜(ゝ。∂)
Behind Sam is the washroom.
Sam with her rolling baby chair~
The menu is basically not much different but some Cha Chan Teng favorites such as Polo bun, egg tart and “Wun Zai Gou” also dominate the menu make this Starbucks a lil special with others.
Last but no least, a photo with the street lamps and stairway~

Shame on me. Went HK few times but never spotted this. How you came across this place? The stairs always appeared in Hong Kong TVB drama series one. And the Starbucks, is so classic. Definitely will be on top of my list if going HK again.
I also refer to others blog when I did my itinerary 🙂
Your darling is so cute!
Duddell St. I like the sound of that.
A cute street name indeed, maybe name of someone?
This Starbucks is so old-skool. Very nice…I’m sure many tourists will like to pay a visit here.
But even my cousin who stay there don’t know about the existence of this Starbucks =.=”
Four years and I have not been there once. I do miss HK and all my friends there. Thank you for the lovely post and great photos.
