Ah Men Bo Li Cha Xiu Egg Noodle @ Restoran Bintang 328, Taman Sri Bintang, Kepong
Hubby has a habit of checking the Google Reviews of that particular eatery when we dine in there. So, there was one Sunday morning when we were having breakfast at one of the kopitiam at Taman Sri Bintang, Kepong, he read about a Wonton Mee stall which has been receiving positive reviews from the patrons and it’s housed in another kopitiam located just across the road.
We came back on the next Sunday to try out the aforementioned Wonton Mee but I didn’t have high expectation because I was disappointed by the previous Wonton Mee that I had which is “highly recommended” on some websites. ●︿●
Menu
We were there circa 10.30am and was informed that they might running out of Char Siew but lucky was on my side as I managed to get, perhaps the last few servings of Char Siew Wonton Mee.
Char Siew Wonton Mee (Small – RM8.00)
Check out the cut of Char Siew that I got, do you think I’m 100% lucky? (-“-) I was given the bottom part of the barbequed meat, which was extremely fatty with blackened charred edges. I barely able to eat any of the Char Siew as they were too greasy and cloying to be eaten. But I did taste the flavour, it was good nonetheless.
The noodles had a good bite to it and tossed in aromatic soy sauce and pork lard oil concoction.
My curiosity and craving wasn’t satiated on that initial visit so we pay another visit a few weeks later, an early breakfast that was. However, something that beyond our expectation happened when we arrived!
Char Siew Rice (RM8.50)
Wonton Mee was temporary not available and only will be provided on December. So I had no choice and forced to order their Char Siew Rice on 8.30am. (-‸ლ)
The stall offered rice with poached chicken (with taugeh), hence the weird combination of Char Siew on bed of bean sprouts + a few slices of cucumber was served to me.
Although I requested for half lean half fat cut but still, the meat cut that I got was a bit too fat for my liking, but still better that my first visit, which was inedible. ~>_<~
The dark coloured Char Siew surpassed all the expectation. It was adequately caramelised, not overly sweet with a delectable savouriness. The meat was tender and succulent with specks of fat in it.
The rice was’t good though, lack of flavour.
Verdict: Will definitely go back on next month for the Char Siew Wonton Mee!

The char siew definitely has the right colour with that melt-in-the-mouth texture but also a bit too fatty for me. I also thought it was a bit weird to see char siew served over taugeh. P/S: My son will consider himself lucky if he got the edges of the char siew (on your first visit) coz that’s what he specifically asks for (char siew tau)…lol! 😀
Kris, I like half lean half fat, those were really really too fat for my liking. Yeah, I know many peoples like Char Siew Tau and will purposely request for that cut. 😛
For me I like the charred edges and fatty bits. I would have considered myself 100% lucky in that situation. LOL!
PH, I don’t like the bitterness of the charred edges and I feel cloying and “geli” when my mouth is filled with oily feeling when bite into those fatty bit, unless the meat is accompanied by some lean meat, then I can accept lah. =.=”
