Auntie May Prawn Mee 美姐虾面 @ Kepong Baru
There are quite a few new eateries sprouting up in Kepong area recently and Auntie May Prawn Mee is one of them.
Auntie May Prawn Mee is originally operating at Restoran WTC at Rawang for more than 10 years and now the business had expanded to Kepong with its second branch (first branch was at Bandar Menjalara) located at the old shoplot row at Jalan Ambong, Kepong Baru on October 2023.
The dining area isn’t really spacious but it is fully utilised to be filled with many wooden tables and stools. (^^;)
Basically, there are only three types of noodle in the menu – Prawn Mee, Shredded Chicken Hor Fun and Pork Noodles. They are available in soup or dry, with different ingredients to vary the options.
Teh (Hot – RM2.50)
Teowchew Prawn Mee (RM12.00)
Portion is big, completed with all the trappings needed for a good bowl of Prawn Mee – prawns, sliced pork, hard boiled egg, Kang Kung, bean sprouts and fried shallots. Instead of those smallish prawns, two pieces of Tiger Prawns (as per mentioned in their FB) in decent size are served with the noodles. The sliced pork also slightly thicker than the usual ones.
The broth was delicious with discernible prawn flavour. Spiciness was on mild side, add in the house made Sambal to kick up the heat as well as the flavour.
Stuffed Fish Yam Bean (RM4.00/pcs)
The signature Ipoh Sar Kok Liew was a bit disappointed. The bean curd skin wasn’t as crispy as I would have hope, luckily the flavour of the filling was okay. So far, I cannot find a food Sar Kok Liew in Klang Valley, any recommendations?
Verdict: Other than THIS, Auntie May Prawn Mee is another option in this area if you’re craving for Prawn Mee. I know there is another praiseworthy Prawn Mee stall at nearby neighbourhood, let me try it out one day and share with you all again.

I wonder what’s the difference between Teochew prawn mee and the regular prawn mee we eat in KL. From the photo, the sar kok liew looks crispy…but it’s not (looks are deceiving…lol). It’s not easy to find sar kok liew in KL unlike in Ipoh.
Kris, good question, but too bad I didn’t ask them about the different. 🙁
Looks pretty decent for sure!
KY, I have to agree. 🙂
