Hai You Wang Seafood Noodle @ Taman Paramount, P.J
I actually dined in here before my visit to Hai Kah Lang, upon recommendation of XHS. It is said to be a good alternative for the latter, without the crowd/queue, sound good right? But how true is that (◔_◔), let me try it out for you!
An empty restaurant during lunch peak hours on Saturday definitely not a good sign. We were the only customer in this spick and span restaurant throughout our lunch that day.
Hai You Wang offers good varieties of seafood noodles served in different soup bases, included clear soup, Tom Yum, curry or dry version. There’s a short list of snacks to complete your meal as well.
Supreme Mix Seafood Noodles (RM26.90)
There were snow crab leg, prawn, squid, fish fillets, clams, seaweeds and handful of coriander in my bowl of noodles (I opted for Mixian). Portion was reasonable for the price charged and those seafood were fresh as well except the snow crab which I assumed was frozen one had a spongy texture. The broth was just decent but did not mind blowing, Hai Kah Lang version unquestionably outshone this by miles.
Lala Noodles (RM16.90)
Although the noodle was crowned with a few fiery looking bird eye chilies, the spicy level was acceptable with the heat of the ginger gently infused into the rather flavourful broth, and conveyed a mild nuances of cooking wine. The hard shell clams were fresh.
Fish Balls Noodles (RM13.90)
The fish balls were nothing to shout about.
Bentong Fried Toufu Pok (RM7.90)
Just some plain fried bean curd puffs, I should have ordered the stuffed bean curd puffs soup. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Verdict: Compare and despair. Hai You Wang is a decent place to head to for some fresh seafood noodles but when there’s a strong competitor, they definitely need to make improvement on the food to be in the running. ᕙ༼◕ل͜◕༽ᕗ

I supposed when you’ve had the best, no other can live up to the comparison…lol! But being the only customer on a weekend lunch already says a lot about the taste of the food here. Usually good newly opened eateries will be swarmed with people.
Kris, the food wasn’t bad actually, but like what you said, when there’s comparison, the result is obvious…. 😛
Good to see more competitions to be honest, the more the merrier.
