Kannichikan Yakiniku @ Desa Sri Hartamas

Today is my dear second younger sister’s birthday, big sister wishes you HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope you have a wonderful birthday, and that the year ahead is full of joy, excitement, and adventure!” Love you. ♡^▽^♡

Instead of the family giving her a treat, she bought us a sumptuous lunch on last Sunday. ︶ε╰✿

Initially, we wanted to dine in at Shin Nihon which specializes in Japanese style charcoal grilling beef. Since mom is joining us and she doesn’t take beef, we have to skip Shin Nihon because beef dishes dominate 95% of their menu. So here we opted for Kannichikan Yakiniku at Desa Sri Hartamas with a more extensive menu not only focuses on beef, but also other meat (pork & chicken), as well as seafood. One can make your selection of beef ala carte or simply opt for their meat platter set filled with various cuts of beef, pork, chicken and seafood. Choices of other dishes are sufficient too, included various of kimchi, Korean pancakes, salads, soups, rice and noodles. Beverages selections are aplenty too, fresh juices, soft drinks, teas, Whisky, beer and Umeshu.

Set lunch is available too priced from RM18.00 to RM34.00, with mains, kimchi, salad and fruit.

The long shape main dining area in light wooden theme, with semi-open banquette seats, Japanese inspired wall paper and paintings. Every table is well equipped with exhaust hood.

There are several partitioned cubicles at the back of the restaurant if one wishes to have a more private dining experience.

Dipping sauce – I didn’t bother much about it when the meat itself is so premium.

Condiments of the meat platter ~ lettuce leaves, miso paste, pickled cucumber, cabbage & radish kimchi. I like kimchi and the pickles but unfortunately they are not refillable. ⊙︿⊙

Charcoal stove for you to grill-it-yourself.

We had the Zeitaku Special (RM613.74) which is meat platter for 2-3 pax, features an assortment of premium meat cuts – thick cut prime beef tongue, Japan premium Wagyu ribeye, Japan Wagyu ribeye, Japan Wagyu short ribs and Japan Wagyu intercostal.

The drool-worthy gloriously marbled various beef cuts.

Despite its thickness, the thick cut prime beef tongue was tender and subtle.

Such quality grade only requires a quick grill on the coals to enjoy the meat’s amazing buttery and moreish beefy flavours.

Those Japanese premium wagyu definitely screamed flavour. The meat tasted buttery and much umami notes of pleasure. So tender from all the marbling, this piece of wagyu is lusciousness in every bite, simply irresistible.

Iberico Toro (RM47.70)

The Iberico pork jowl marinated in palatable sweet-savoury marinade was succulent and delicious after being grilled.

Mixed Set (RM34.00)

From the Yakiniku Lunch Set menu, it contains marinated chicken thigh, lamb & pork belly, served along with rice, kimchi, soup, lettuce and fruit. Try their Yakiniku Lunch Set if you want a more wallet friendly meal.

We didn’t order any vegetables as every meat platter was accompanied by mushroom, zucchini and eggplant pieces.

Vegetables Soup with Rice (RM21.20)

The light-tasting “porridge” was laden with sliced mushrooms, bean sprouts, spinach, julliened carrot, seaweed and egg.

Korean Chives Pancake (RM21.20)

Crispy but bland in flavour. Lunch was ended with complimentary watermelon.

♥Verdict: Satisfying quality of Wagyu beef with great texture and flavours. Price of beef (prime cut & Wagyu) platter starting from RM200+ to RM600+ while the ala carte orders priced from RM20+ to  RM170+.

Service was quite friendly and the ventilation was adequate, not much unpleasant odour after the meal.

  • BBQ is probably the most affected cuisine during the pandemic as this is best eaten on-site. Ah, this place is pricey, a meal here can easily set you back RM150 – RM200 per person (there were 4-5 of you?). The set doesn’t even look like it’s enough for two…lol! I’ve eaten at their Old Klang Road branch and liked their prawns & pork, the beef not so much…but, then again, I only had Australian wagyu that cannot compare to your premium beef (not so lucky to have someone treat me Japanese wagyu…haha)! 😉 If in this area (Desa Sri Hartamas, gosh the parking here is a nightmare!), I prefer Momotalo. Glad you enjoyed your premium beef lunch.

    • Kris, there were 5 of us and the portion that we had definitely not really sufficient for us but since the “boss” choose quality over quantity, I’m totally okay with it.

  • Fuiyooohhh… look at the marbling of the meat! They look so yummy but why kimchi and radish not refillable? That’s sad! The Zeitaku Special set seems like only enough for myself XD

    • Henry, the kimchi is not refillable I think most probably because they are in their menu and if refill need to be charged.

      • MOST of KIMCHI PROVIDED BY JAPANESE RESTAURANTS IS NOT REFILLABLE SINCE THE KIMCHI IS TASTE BETTER THOSE KOREAN REFILLABLE KIMCHI.. (MOSTLY ONLY SPICY AND TASTES SUCK ). I believe the ingredient to make those Japanese style kimchi is more costable than those refillable.
